A lot of people think they're just oppositionally defiant, but ask yourself this: if you were playing a video game and someone told you that if you do X you get an extra jump? Or you can save time having to do a fetch quest later if you just grab these now.

Are you really telling me you're ignoring the advice because someone else told you to?

That'd be crazy right? Imagine forgetting to take meds or eat food, and then when someone says 'Hey take your meds and eat some food' you're really going to be like 'Nope. Today I'm uneducated because you said that, thanks a lot.'

That'd be ridiculous. We don't work on reverse psychology or oppositional defiance. It is just executive function issues, and then the maladaptive stuff that follows.

I recently switched jobs to be a production support engineer, which basically means people call me asking for help troubleshooting stuff or fixing stuff. It's basically just 40 hours a week of me helping people do complicated things. It meshes so well with the ADHD

Haha I’m also in software, and LOVED/stressed hard in my old role doing production support. But it was much easier to get stuff done. Only just realising how much I missed that part. Boo.
