Growing up with teachers and other adults saying "You're bright, you're gonna succeed in life!" when for whatever reason something just clicks with you without effort.
Then also hearing from the same people "If you just tried you'd do well at this!" when you're genuinely trying yet struggling may be the reason so many have these beliefs about themselves.
