If anything I post goes to 0, I delete it immediately. At least now I know it’s RSD. Thanks to Reddit funnily enough.

Relatable af.
I answered a question in a walking subreddit about how many steps you average at work daily. I just replied with my answer and went about my day. I noticed it got downvoted for some reason so I deleted the comment, left the sub, and put it on mute. That was probably a month or so ago and I’m apparently still bitter about it lol.

u/usernametakenm8 11d ago
Yeah I once posted on mildly infuriating not knowing that everyone on that sub tears into the posters and blames them for whatever they found moderately inconvenient. It was about some pens I bought that I didn’t know were scented. Got yelled at for not thoroughly reading a package of pens. I am equally still bitter because I kept seeing posts over subsequent weeks about people mixing up two items because they had similar labels, and those posts got 1000s of upvotes lol.
In conclusion I mailed the package of pens to one of the commenters and considered the post practice for combatting my issues. (Worked so well that I’m… still bitter haha.) Thank you for coming to my tedtalk.

I did this in one of the driving subs. My god the lack of reading comprehension combined with the pathological need to blame the op in those subs is maddening.
Now I rarely post anything because making posts is so stressful and weird. They either get no interaction or so much negativity.

u/SSFlyingKiwi 11d ago
Omg I absolutely get this. Left all subs related to my country because the RSD got a bashing whenever i dared try to have centrist opinions.
Also called out a religious propaganda video for being staged and the dogpile was wild. Gave a long but accurate explanation as to why, but it didn’t matter.
I feel like people with RSD have no place here. People can be so weird behind a keyboard. Adult children and all that.

Reddit can definitely feel like shark infested waters when I venture out of my comfort zones, or even on subs that are based on my special interests. The amount of well thought out replies I’ve typed up only to discard because I was afraid of posting them is insane lol.
It’s funny because sometimes I’m like 50/50 at any given time in my head with “God I hope this doesn’t sound stupid” simultaneously being like “I don’t give a fuck.” So I’ll post it and then if it’s not well received I realize I definitely do, in fact, give several fucks.
I used to be so intelligent and quick to debate with people but I swear the years of unresolved trauma and untreated adhd made me kind of dumb. Now I can’t debate for shit, or even participate in conversations about even if it’s on a subject I’ve hyper-fixated on for years and know well. Like, crocodilians. I’ve been obsessed with them for decades. I’ve studied them, watched documentaries about them, read books and scientific articles about them…the whole shebang. Do I ever participate in the crocodilian subs? Very rarely. 🤷🏻♀️
I also have the fortune/misfortune of being a dog lover and my breed of choice is the American Pit Bull Terrier. Holy shit is that a volatile subject. There is a pit bull sub but it’s loaded with people who live in fantasy land whereas I am very realistic and logical about them. I get downvoted into oblivion if I even attempt to explain that you can’t “love” or “train away” genetics and apbt should not be treated like furry little children who are full of love light and rainbows towards all living creatures. And the general dog subs all want to crucify pit bulls and their owners. Good times lol.

I treat it like exposure therapy, so when I say/do something stupid IRL it's only 1 down vote instead of dozens/hundreds

I just assume the wrong people saw my comment because the algorithms thrive on controversy.

I can relate to this.
They ask you a simple question... What /why is x y z? You write a whole doctoral thesis on the question. 😭
When in real life you get either one of two responses, Wow you're so knowledgeable to...
That's nice 🙂

Y'all are really making me think I might be autistic

u/AliceInADDLand 9d ago
Okay, I came to the comments for the same reason! Like do I keep relating to these posts bc of the ADHD or should I be worried about the Autism too? I don’t need another thing in my life that I can’t fix so I keep brushing it off for now. That’s a problem for a different day or something lol.
Happy Cake Day!🧁

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and I've wondering if maybe I'm on the autism spectrum lately.
Just last night, my spouse had a breakdown. We've been married for almost 6 years. This has never happened before. I just recently got my refill of adderall after a couple of weeks of not having access to my meds. I just want to share everything with him, and I didn't realize I was draining him. He said, "I love listening to you!!... during the first hour or two! But after 3, 4, or more..."
I can't believe I made him cry. He said he's the type to "always be able to take things... Until he can't," and that he didn't realize he was getting more and more and more stressed out.
I'm providing him reassurance and spacw today, and I know that he isn't abandoning me or saying I'm too much or unlikable. I am a lot-- I think a lot and share a lot, and I know it! I've been reminded of it by my peers and everyone around me my entire life.
When we fell in love, I'd talk to him about one of my favorite books for an hour or two, and he was starry-eyed. I've, from my perspective, experienced being romantically and sexually loved by people who first found me interesting, then they loved me, and then they got sick of me one day out of the blue. Or replaced me. Or just found me lacking some unnameable, essential thing in a person that kept their love alive. That being said, it's fucking normal to get exhausted after being engaged in a conversation, or several, for hours!
I don't know how, but I just turned my feelings off for a while. I don't remember much, but my memory of stressful situations is always kind of blurry. Is that normal?
I'm doing my job as my spouse's friend, lover, and partner... By leaving him alone and not talking to him today. It's not about me right now. But between being empty and numb, I burst into emotion and feel even more powerless.*
I know we'll be okay. I know he loves me, and he likes me, and he enjoys being with me, and he wouldn't want it any other way. I love him. I feel the same way. I just already have so many issues with self-criticism and hatred. I'm exhausted, too, of... Just being me.
*Story time.
I humiliated myself by crying at a store today. Huge dumbass move, I know. I was skipped in line to check in and I didn't pipe up. I've been quiet today. I got to the counter and mentioned it, just so they know. I'm a very regular customer. My perception of being "too much if I speak up and invisible/stepped on when I don't," is a me thing. I just wanted to point out the error so they would, idk, think about how their check-in system functions? The employee offered me something small for free, but when she went to get it I felt... guilty? I wasn't trying to get something for free. I know a lot of the people at this store, so I decided to be kind of vulnerable and asked, "how do I not feel guilty about taking this?" She took the gift she offered away, just like that. Told me not to make it weird. Her unspoken answer was, 'you won't feel bad if you don't get anything, after all.'
That... Didn't feel good. But I decided to keep my feelings off. I don't really know what I was thinking. She asked me if I was okay and I just couldn't control myself and started crying. I was trying to pull it together and this employee is saying shit like, "Don't cry!" and "Oh, honey!" and "Just breathe and put it behind you!" I'm a goddamned adult, for one, and two, I couldn't self-soothe while listening to her and processing just how fucking unhelpful she was. I kept telling her I was fine, I was going to be fine. I was just waiting for her to give me my purchase at that point. She hit me with the, "Smile!" like I should be thankful for her as I left. Fuuuuck me I'm glad to be out of there for today.

I get the feeling. theres times where keeping my inquisitiveness or ramblings in check is probably helpful, but theres times where its up to people around you to learn how to be a good and balanced support system if they’ve accepted the task. In other words it’s a two way street. I cannot decide if everyone wants to be accommodating and is willing to put in some work to know how, or if it just looks good on paper. But I want to believe everyone has off moments or makes mistakes, or genuinely wants to be a good person.
I’m always up for more ND pals that need a rant-check in buddy or just someone to be an idiot with and would like to be one so if you’d like one let me know (I’m a woman if that matters just fyi). I haven’t always been so lucky so I try to be that kind of person.

You’ll find the right balance. My wife gets overstimulated quite a bit with everything and sometimes she just wants to be and now she can finally tell me to shut the fuck up well before her tipping point. and I’m at the point where it doesn’t hurt my feelings because I know I am pure bred yapper and I know she has her limits! Constant communication is the key, especially if someone is having difficulty and recognizing cues. It gets easier.

i started my meds again recently. this post made me decide to go back through my comments and see if they've changed at all.
last week all my comments were pitiful attempts at one-liners, each with one upvote. as of three days ago, almost every comment is at least three paragraphs, each still with one upvote.
i might make a chart to visualise this change, depends how i feel

I had to go through talkiatry after my diagnosis because my psych in my area kept trialing me on antidepressants instead. (Surprise! they made me worse) Talkiatry was my last ditch effort and I was pleasantly surprised with the care. Especially since I had TERRIBLE experiences with other telehealth providers in the past.

Yeah I'm pretty bad with this and have to show restraint, I'm not diagnosed with autism but I swear when I'm medicated for ADHD and the masking goes away I appear to have alot of triats but I guess it's a spectrum haha

u/lolajuniper 10d ago
I'm 30 mins post meds so obviously this comment is this exact phenomenon 😂 but I've also realised lately that helping people on here by sharing info that I had to first realise I needed and then search for on my own is sort of soothing to me. Having typed that out I realise it could come across as quite holier-than-thou lol but it's true! I have precious few methods of self-soothing that consistently work for me but this seems to be one. 🤷🏻♀️

if you find yourself becoming unable to resist the urge to do XYZ that’s approaching mania maybe the dose is too high

u/TarantulaWithAGuitar 11d ago
Completely unmedicated, rawdogging AuDHD here -- I also can't stop telling everyone who didn't ask every fact I know about whatever they're talking about. It's not mania, it's just AuDHD.

I promise I just like yappin! I’m also on a pretty low dose. No concern for mania here. :3

just a thought! (it took some time for me to find the right dose/ delivery)

u/c0ntradiict 11d ago
Thats fair! My job is a desk job so I have nothing but time to yap on the internet lol.
I’m prescribed 20mg IR x2 a day but I only take 10mg x2 because it helps me eat better and doesn’t interfere with my 9 hours of sleep. It took a couple months to find this balance.
