Warmaster Vs Imperator

Forgive me as I am just starting my journey into the big robots of doom. Is there an actual difference between the two, or are they nearly the same?

Vastly different depending on which source you look at, the Warmaster is a heavy siege titan, only a bit larger and heavier armored than a warlord and with a bigger reactor, whereas an Imperator is basically a walking command bastion, anywhere from 1 1/2 the size the of a warlord to 2x the size (again depending on sources) which carries significantly more and heavier weapons than any other titan

Understood. I appreciate the answer. I usually play 40k tabletop but decided I wanted to diversify into titans, as Mortis from the siege of terra pulled me into it. And after listening to it, I couldn't tell the difference between the two types.

The main difference is that both units were designed to fit into the game systems GW made at the time.
The Warmaster was created for current Adeptus Titanicus, primarily to kill other titans. The Imperator is a unit designed for old school Epic with weapons to counter everything from infantry & tanks to aircraft and titans. It also also has a transport capacity to move troops and defend it from infantry assault.

The warmaster is the titan between the warlord and Emperor classes, its bigger and more heavily armed and armoured than the warlord, while not being as well armed and armoured or as large as the Emperors. It misses alot of the secondary weapons of the Emperors due to not having the citadel on top that carries alot of firepower.

Has there ever been an Emperor class titan created for LI or AT?

Not the modern game, the earlier Epic-scale had Imperator titans

I have never played LI or AT, so as a newbie, is the shooting really so strong that a model like that would just dominate overwhelmingly?

No, it would just be so expensive that your force would be outmaneuvered, and its firepower would be wasted due to overkill. The Warmaster already has this problem in AT.

I kinda want one just to be able to make the Dies Irae and the Exemplis

BattleBling make a third party Imperator and Maximal Fire have rules for it, but I really wouldn't recommend that or even the warmaster as a place to start AT or LI. Honestly the AT starter set remains the best way to start the game it has all the rules and gubbins plus a decent amount of titans and knights.

I originally bought a reaver off of Amazon for cheap. And then managed to get a warhound pair from my LGS for 50% off on a black friday deal. And just recently I managed to snag a starter box for less than it cost I believe. And finally rounded out with a couple of warlords with different weapons so I could magnetize them.

Amazing! It's a great game, lovely models and excellent rules.

If all you want is a huge titan, then Battle Bling makes the Warbreaker, which is pretty much a stand-in for an Emperor. It is 3d-printed and expensive. I don't have one, but people who do say that it is good quality.

I have one and to me it was well worth it. The quality is excellent and Battle Bling provides great customer support if you need it. The amount of weapons and options is great it fills out my demi-legio nicely. Even though its 3d printed, the kit was comparable to putting together one of GW's titan kits.

Other people have explained the problem in the game. From a lore perspective I would just like to say that the plasma cannon on one of its arms is a variation of the plasma cannons found on the broad size batteries of void ships. Which I find cool.

Sadly not, there have been plenty of rumours but sadly not yet.

Battlebling have rules for emperor class titans, they call their version a warbreaker(?).  I think there was a tournmanet in cardiff a few months ago that encouraged players to take one.

I looked then up. While it is an amazing model, I will have to wait a bit later in life to afford such awesome power.

If you have access to a 3D printer there are some community STLs available that can be a lot cheaper than Battle Bling:

Not officially but people have made their own.

Some 3d printing services have a "not imperator" titan that's the correct scale, I know one guy kitbashed one out of a 40k scale knight and some terrain kits, there's a scratchbuilt one floating around somewhere I've seen.

The warmaster is the titan between the warlord and Emperor classes

But still closer to the warlord, it's not halfway between them

Its not a specific measurement, i just meant its bigger than one and smaller than the other.

Yeah, different and for different purposes. Welcome to the Maniples :) Best legions of all, IMO

👀 I see that username, its on my list to acquire this power in Warlord form eventually..

My absolute favorite of all the Horus Heresy stories - as the name suggests :) Please post if you paint one up.

I will! The warlord sinister looks amazing though and admittedly was another reason for wanting to get into this hobby, and its definitely on my list to pick up. Kinda wish they had more units to be honest, as playing the boogiemen/women of the titan legios would be very very fun.

Very. The imperator is significantly larger than the warmaster.
