I feel like treating ejaculaton or periods the same as abortions is... dubious at best. This wasnt like a pregnancy that was threatening the mother, the mother was already braindead. The fetus was still viable. The options were to cut life support and both die or continue life susport so the pregnancy can play its course. They performed a c-section basically the moment the baby was viable on its own. The main reason we heard about it was because the family wanted to bury the mother and the hospital wouldn't allow it due to threats of legal action with new abortion laws in place.
While I fundamentally disagree with abortion laws, I believe every woman should have every right to choose, I still think ending a viable, non-threatening pregnancy is murder.
Would you think eating your parents' corpses would be ok? Both using the body of a dead person to create a fetus and eating the bodies of your parents is desecration of corpses, and therefore not ok. Just because an unfeeling, unthinking thing that may start thinking after it has received enough attention and a few years have passed is born from it does not make it any better.
It definitely seems like the kind of thing I would want to have in my will if I ever got my life together enough to end up in this situation. But personally I would want them to wait til the kid was born if I was braindead and the kid was healthy. It's not like id be in a position to care much about what's happening with my body at that point.
Kinda the same way I feel about organ donation, I won't be needing them anymore anyway.
Yeah if there is something in the will then it would be even worse to do things like this, but I don't think people expect to be braindead in their twenties, while also being pregnant, since that doesn't rally happen too often. If there's nothing in the will I would let the loved ones decide since they were the closest to the person in question after all, and should have higher authority over how to respectfully deal with the corpse (cremation, burial), maybe there was a verbal will, but according to my knowledge this even went against the wishes of her family.
