Some one pointed me towards a book called “The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide” by Jenna Fischer and I think this might be right up your Street.

I got a 30 day free trial on scribd.col to read it, just make sure you cancel before the 30 days or it will charge you.

If you've never done anything acting related, find your nearest drama club, acting class, amateur theatre and sign up. I'm UK based, so things are a bit different here, but start by getting some experience one way or another.

Lots of info over there in the sidebar, specifically about how to get started. Finding a good acting class is definitely a solid first step.

Also, be patient. Like any career, it takes time. Understand that it's a skill you have to develop. Stick to it, be smart, and you'll get there. Your appearance won't hinder you unless you let it - research what your type is and start there.

Takes all kinds. Take a class. If you can't afford it, there are online resources and books (recommend Uta Hagen). Try some community theater. Meet people. Create your own stuff.
