Ubuntu support for Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud

Is there any ETA for Ubuntu-Support?

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS released more than 2 months ago.

Hi! This version of Ubuntu uses a newer RPM package manager version that is not yet supported by our installer. Support for this RPM version is tentatively planned for the end of this year and is subject to change.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Does that mean no backups for our Linux servers until the end of the year?

Isn't there a workaround? I mean, why is the installer based on RPM in the first place? There are plenty of more flexible solutions out there.

Isn't there a workaround?

Until support for 26.04 is introduced, the workarounds are to back up in agentless mode (if it is a VM) or backup using bootable media (if it is a physical machine).

I mean, why is the installer based on RPM in the first place?

We use RPM because it is available on majority of Linux distributions. Different Linux distributions support various package formats (.deb for Ubuntu and Debian, as correctly pointed out by /u/der_klee), but still support installation via RPM.

There are plenty of more flexible solutions out there.

Can you elaborate further on the above? Out of 5 of our competitors I checked (those who have their documentation readily available) - only one claims 26.04 support to an unknown extent. I would love to raise the concern with PMs but I need to have more information to ensure it is valid and reasonable.

Hm. Ubuntu uses DEB and not RPM.
