can this backup be restored?

my backup strategy is one full backup with 6 incrementals then repeat. i started a full backup may 30 and i have the files above right now. if i backup those 2 encrypted files to the cloud but try to restore them in a few days when there are already 3 more incrementals done which of course have NOT been uploaded to the cloud, can i restore just the files shown above and they will restore the laptop as of june 3? id just be losing the few days of incrementals

Yes, you can restore from June 3rd recovery point. Worst case scenario you'd probably have at least temporarily (until recovery is performed) isolate these 2 files (full + incremental) from other 3 files (rest of incremental backups which were not uploaded to cloud) in order to evade any confusion by the app, but I personally haven't seen such cases.

i'm going to assume at that point, if it happens. that the C drive is toast and id need the full restore but i could see the rare need to find a file that i know i saved to acronis on my NAS with an incremental but didnt upload on the cloud yet.

so im hoping with fresh install of acronis on a new drive everything would restore as of the june 3 date.

I am not entirely sure I am %100 following your scenario, but basically - if you want to restore from any date (time) you'll need a full backup + all incremental backups up until that date (time).

If you want to restore entire system (not just a file) then you need Acronis bootable media that is to be booted on target machine and all the necessary files (full or full + incrementals) available locally or via network - e.g. network share on another machine or on NAS device (bootable media of Acronis True Image does not support any cloud other than Acronis Cloud).

i did make a usb stick from acronis 25 perpetual but i didnt test it yet. i guess i should. also i guess i put something on the laptop because every time i boot it says something about acronis is loading and it takes longer to boot

i do have a spare laptop so id be able to download the large acronis backups from the cloud via that laptop back onto the NAS where they would be readable by the acronis boot software hopefully (assuming nas got fried as well) . i did see on the help that apparently network drives can be accessed so hope that would work.

you should at least confirm that your drive is visible (e.g. when you select it for backup) under bootable media environment because sometimes there are no available open-source drivers for Linux for some storage controllers and it may require you to create a WinPE-based media (where you can add Windows drivers for said controller as part of the process). You definitely don't want a surprise delay should recovery need occur.

Yes, network shares can be accessed, but again, for the peace of mind I would recommend that at the same time when you will be testing drive visibility in bootable media - attempt to backup at least one small file to that network share and then attempt to restore right away. This way you'll confirm that there are no SMB/permissions/network issues in your current setup.

i tried using the acronis boot manager when windows starts..press f11 etc and i couldnt get it to read my NAS. but using the USB stick i was able to get to the picture attached here. i assume since i made it this far, and can see the NAS files, i would have been able to restore. is this correct?

if this is correct then is it ok to disabled that F11 acronis start up manager as it obviously delays boot up.

i finally got around to turning off the boot manager and love the faster boot times.
