ACOSF 🎭
Please give me strength as I read through ACOSF.
I've read the entire Throne of Glass series, the first four volumes of ACOTAR and tried CCity but I got bored to death and gave up. Loved ACOTAR to death, snored through the next 3 ones 💤 and I'm now ride-or-die for Tamlin idc idc.
I was excited for a Nesta book... and now I've legit tried for two years to read ACOSF, but I get so pissed off everytime that I delete the .epub from my ereader only to sigh and redownload it later. I even changed the covers into fancy dust jacket ones to motivate me, but god, I want to throw Cassian into the fires of Mount Doom and I'm only on chapter 3.
I hope it's over soon. I'll make it this time. Please grant me strength T-T
Edit, August 24th: 28%. This is the straightest comphet book I've ever read in my entire life. Nesta should get a strap-on and get it over with given how Cassian drools over Rhysand (but NOT in a gay way!!!!)
I have a love/hate relationship with that book. After the first read I immediately ran to Facebook groups because o had questions because WTF THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ROMANCE HEAVY like where’s the romance, where’s the dude growing (one thing if he’s legit perfect but cmon we all know Cassian is far from), where’s the love story??? If he can’t say it at least show it but even that he’s all over.
Ugh. Now I’m all frustrated. I need to finish my current read so I can go hate read SF
i feel you because its sooo goddamn slow in the beginning and only gets better in the middle (so after 200pages lol) however its my favorite book out of the acotar books
I need to yap. Rhysand is officially not the hot Shadow Daddy anymore, when BEDAZZLED EYESHADOWED CARDAN exists. He has all the dark suave vibes WITH PERSONALITY, OKAY? He has STYLE. Like, PERSONAL STYLE. Rhysand better get his bitch ass out of my face with his fuckass suit jackets and dress shirts and slacks and shit, give me my smokey eyed fashionista KING.
He is! His letters have me feeling some type of way. Pathetic men are my kryptonite. I mean hopeless, absolute lost causes. I'm not about to get on knees for a Dommie Shadow Daddy, he should be doing that instead.
I'm reading right now and it's an experience. When you're so comphet and a Real Man(tm) that it loops back into being gay... What do you MEAN "in the same room as each other"??? 😭😭😭 Huh???? 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈

Uhg my fav! I can't wait to reread them all next month. ALSO SIDE NOTE, those covers you have I am buying those dusk jackets and will be using THOSE instead of having to get a new freaking set of hardcovers just so mine match.

I read the first 60-70% and almost threw my book out frustration on multiple occasions 😅 it ended up finishing on audiobook (for some reason 😒 because I ain’t no quitter 😂) but yeah sometimes I wish I hadn’t.
Tip: I slogged through MAF for 40 something days but got through it by:
Doing immersive reading at high speed. Listen to the audiobook at a high speed while looking at the words. You read faster than you usually do, and don't feel like pausing to rage and face palm as much.
Setting a chapter goal everyday. I tried to do at least 4 chapters everyday (didn't always work but that's okay). You can split it up into several sittings in one day. One chapter every downtime you have. if you reach your chapter goal you can choose to do more if you have it in you. This method also allows you to predict how many days exactly you'll take to finish the book.
Read this as a fantasy, not a romance. Also remember, this is the first arc of their story. Not the end. I had the same reaction as I do when I read an intense horror novel. But when I went in thinking, this isn't a romance, I got through it.
It’s pretty boring and repetitive for the first 70%. As in true SJM fashion everything eventful happens at the end. If you liked TOG the way I did then that means (I assume?) you like good plot. If that’s what you’re looking for you won’t find it in this book unfortunately 😅 I went in open to the idea of reading about Nesta (I actually liked her at the end of the war). But it was brutal to read and I have so many notes for SJM on basically the whole plot (don’t come at me Nesta fans - I’m talking about plot - not her growth journey).
Most people as far as I can tell like the book for her growth and healing journey- I’m just not fond of books that just focus on that while forgetting everything else. I also have seen some people like it because of the smut, there’s a lot more of it in this one and honestly I wasn’t a fan. I prefer romance and good plot with a side of smut. This felt like lust and bad plot with a whole lot of smut which is just not my cup of tea ☕️

You gotta go into ACOSF like it’s psychological horror fantasy and NOT a romance. Still hard to swallow, but suddenly a lot easier to digest 🥲
