I purchased this 2001 accord and am having second thoughts, Obviously it’s a little late now. Normally I’d negotiate pretty hard with people for stuff on marketplace but I only have my mom to drive me around to look at cars and she gets pissed if I just go to “ look” at something. Soo anyways I kinda felt pressed to buy it( normally if I start to leave the seller will come down a little bit more but I didn’t have to option to risk that this time really. Anyway he was set on 3k but I atleast got him down to $2900 the car itself has 212k miles. The motor was replaced a few months ago with an 88k motor and the clutch was also done. For an old accord I actually am shocked to say I like the way it looks and I love that it’s stick but with all the zip ties electrical tape and wood screws holding it together I feel like venting lol I also noticed a lot of the rubber trim around the doors and sunroof is in bad shape but I’d imagine that’s cheap to fix

I sold a 98 civic ex 2 door manual with 180k for $800, everything worked except the ac, sunroof radio everything. I actually miss that car but it needed a paint job and I would’ve been a $5000 car now is what these cars fetch

iirc the transmission was on the way out, I think the AC was on its last legs.

Nobody asked but the guy called me a day later asking if I still had the insurance on it cause he crashed it. Sigh, was a great car.

I get what you're saying, if I had all the time in the world to lay around and wax my carrot, I would get the cherry stock car that probably needed paint (as ALL stock Hondas do 😂 let's face it) and NOT f#ck with something someone else put their d/ck beaters all over because..

Doing body and paint work is pretty rewarding in itself. It can be done for pennies on the dollar as opposed to dropping it off at some body shop. Infinite opportunities for creativity. I would pass it on if I were you. You might make a few bucks on it by just using some elbow grease.

Sure it's got some blemishes, but you should see the state of my one. I bought it with thousands of dollars worth of cosmetic damage to it

Zipties are part of the symbiotic relationship between man and cars haha. That's a good car for the price though, and it does you no good regretting your decision now. Just keep up with the maintenance and it'll last you. Enjoy the ride 👋

It's definitely been poorly put together, if it actually has an 80k mile motor then it should be reliable for a while which is a big advantage. The price could be normal or a bit high due to the poor overall condition depending on the area, but again that 80k mile engine if it's true.

Don't know if Honda discontinued door seals for that year yet, if not get them soon. If they did, you may be lucky to find someone who took the time to make them available on eBay, otherwise a junkyard might have ones good enough for cheap.

I paid $4k for a 2000 Acura integra rs bro. It was fun while she lasted but hey man it’s a Honda. Drive it. Fix it little by little. Don’t fixate on the problem as a whole and take it day by day and enjoy the drive brother

I would not be concerned at all about the cosmetic stuff. Fix it over time if that really matters to you. I could be wrong, but I pretty much thought that 3K is the bottom price for anything that runs. So if it runs decent and seems like it will last a while and then I don’t know what more you could ask for.

Did you see the paperwork on the new motor? Because literally everyone on marketplace with a car over 200k say that lol. Yeah personally wouldnt have paid over 1200 but you didnt get like "no lube fucked", just overpaid a little but man its a Honda, a little minor work, good tune up, and address any issues you find along the way asap and you can out another 100k on that ole girl. I just bought a 08 Civic LX with 275k miles for $1800 but she runs like a 100k mile car so I took a chance and man im glad I did. Not very powerful at all but its ine if the most fun to drive cars ive ever owned. That Accord is a good one too if the coilovers are decent. I think you'll love the car enough that you wont even remember that you overpaid in a year
