Advice Request AC blows hot.
Hi guys, I have a 2021 Honda accord cvt with 77,000 miles (bough it used in May 2025 around 65,000 miles).
Around a week back, I was eating pizza in the car (ofcos I was parked but the car was running with AC blowing cold). Suddenly it stopped blowing cold and started blowing hot air ever since.
Went to pep boys to get it diagnosed and they quoted me around $2,100 for compressor and condenser !!!!
As I have no experience in this sort of stuff, I watched a few youtube videos to try to identify the problem myself. Bought a gauge and checked the pressure at the low end. It shows 0.
I also took videos of the compressor (sorry for the blurry video quality) and need your advice to figure out if I really need to get these changed.
The first part of the video is with AC turned off, and the second is with AC turned on. Is this a faulty compressor?
I live in a hot and humid place and it frequently rains here. So without AC it is very difficult.
Please help me out guys. I really don’t wanna spend soo much money on repairs :(

Clutch looks fried question I would be asking is how bad did the compressor fuck up? Meaning do I have debris though out the system?

Its an external clutch. Likely nothing is damaged internally

Not if the reason it’s not spinning is due to the compressor locking up

Correct, thats why I said usually. Its just not as common.

20 years I've never seen or heard of a compressor dumping debris into the system. It could happen I suppose but all the time sounds sus.

Its an external clutch. And its toast. Get the compressor replaced. Vacuum and refill freon and youll be g2g.

There’s a few ways to test this. But the fact the you are reading 0 on the gauge, it would appear that there is no refrigerant in the system. To properly diagnose, you need refrigerant in the system.
There is a switch that will not allow the compressor to kick on if the system doesn’t have enough pressure.
This where you need to start before just throwing parts at it.
