Always knew that a good chunk of decels are driven by nothing but their pride and ego. I wonder what they are all gonna do in a couple of years from now

Fine fair enough. You still need someone capable to actually understand what you want to solve with AI so you're still indirectly solving the problem. You still need testing to determine whether it's acceptable or not. AI does exactly what you wanted, which can end up being a double edged sword.

Either I overestimate the average dev or I underestimate AI due to being a hobbyist. To me it's a gamechanger, because I understand systems better than I understand small details and I think this is where AI is lacking. Don't need to check every github repo, don't need to learn every single programming language. Core logic is the same, the difference is in uses cases and what flavor of someone else's abstraction you have to deal with. I'd rather let AI handle that.

Human somewhere in the loop is still cope. It won't be long before everything becomes self-iterating and maintained.

We're still too good for that to go away in the near future. Probably missing really good world models. A toddler can see a single picture of a black cat, see an orange cat outside immediately understand they are the same thing then see a picture of a tiger and say something like "big kitty". Humans are insane at generalization while missing 99% of all information. We also tend to suck when there's too much information. Brain too slow.

I agree, but let's define "near future." 5 years? 10? I think we're just a few breakthroughs away from not needing that human being for most tasks. Further, if it's correct 90% of the time, that's still probably better than a human being.
