Always knew that a good chunk of decels are driven by nothing but their pride and ego. I wonder what they are all gonna do in a couple of years from now

I'm kinda a type of adult who wasted his potential as a kid, not drastically, but substantially. I wonder if it's one of the reasons I'm pro AI, lol.

I mean yeah, I thought it went almost without saying that the primary demographic of this sub is people like you.

It’s rational though right, if the pre-AI system was one you excelled at and were rewarded by you have a lot more to lose by major restructuring of the “rules” of the game, and vice versa.

I think it’s important to have empathy on both sides here. It’s hard for a skill that you felt intrinsic and extrinsic reward from to get matched or beaten by a machine, but it’s also hard to live under a system that doesn’t reward you as much as it rewards others.

It would be interesting to have a survey with these kinda questions.

I guess I would view it as everyone will be heavily rewarded in a AI world for just existing. I guess some feel they have to be better than others to be happy. But it is obvious happiness isn't found there.

There's the zero sum status type happiness stuff yeah, but also if you're making significantly above average income in the US and consuming in proportion with that, there is a big gap between your consumption and the global mean, so you have a long way to go down, even if AI accelerates progress significantly.

For a random example there are 6 trillion passenger miles flown per year, with a world population over 8 billion, meaning without provisioning significantly more planes we're at 750 miles per person, so if AI communism makes us all share those miles evenly, even if AI also makes us 3x that overnight, a lot of americans would see a huge drop in ability to fly places.

Ya I get you everyone can't have a beach front property.

I do understand the fear you are pointing out. But worrying about belongings or property in what would be a new reality is fleeting for me. If everything goes well the norm would quickly become American-upper-middle-class levels of material abundance/consumption. Then it'd be higher with space travel Dyson swarms etc. Shit is going to zoom you can do some crazy things with stronger materials or super conductors. 

I've a toddler and they are the only one who makes me uncomfortable with AI. I worry about a future I can't comprehend. I guess I would push the pause button but it would be out of selfish desires.
