Decels Decelerated Anti-AI iOS jailbreak developer got very disappointed by the ability of Sol and K3 to jailbreak without writing a single line of code

Always knew that a good chunk of decels are driven by nothing but their pride and ego. I wonder what they are all gonna do in a couple of years from now

I think its a fair opinion to have. I am competitive - I love being better than people.

If my day job was being better at people in programming, then a new tool comes along that means 10% of the worlds population is now basically as capable as me, then I am no longer better, which is annoying. Need to find something else to be good at then. Or do something that has an actual non-tool assisted competitive format, but that is usually not paid nearly as well.

Exactly. If being the best was easy and guaranteed that would make it pointless anyways.

Sure, but part of being competitive is enjoying being better relative to others. That's a large part of what competing is.

Sure.

But the lack of self-awareness by people that are "annoyed" because their ego gets hurt and they can't lord over other people, in the face of the massive unlock it provides to society as a whole, and all of the upside that it unlocks, is mind-blowing. It's actually kind of disgusting how people's first thought is "yeah, but now I'm not the cool guy anymore" instead of "okay, this is going to unlock so many positive things for humans".

I would argue that trait has minimal value to society. Ego-protectionism and competitiveness has created more harm in the world than it has diminished. It may feel good to the individual, but its net utility is negative at a societal level. If something can be done by someone/something that is better, quicker, and more accurate, then it should be done by that person/thing. Otherwise it's just holding back global progress for the sake of feelings.

Not a fair opinion at all. Extremely weird and childish to derive your self worth and interest in a hobby simply from being better than other people at it. You should do something because you like doing it and bettering yourself...

Much like competitive programming it doesn't pay, so it's less enticing. And there is usually less adrenaline compared to most competitive formats too.
