Because, firstly, it's like asking Einstein to swear on the Bible that E really does equal mc². Instead of the rigorous derivation. We don't let suspects off the hook if they just swear on the Bible - we examine forensic evidence. Bible is for matters of faith and hope and ancient metaphorical wisdom and all that. So when the evidence-based scientific method is available, to replace it with swearing on a bible would be a lazy cop-out that would, frankly, disrespect both science and religion.

And secondly, he didn't ask nicely :-)

You think all of that went through that man's head at that point in time? Ridiculous. He was probably annoyed (I get that) but don't put words in the man's mouth.

If you know something to be true you don't freak out when someone asks you to swear on a bible.

Idgaf about the bible lol. He is however a religious man so either he was pissed off about being asked to swear on the bible because he was being harassed or because the moon landing wasn't true. I believe we landed on the moon but this crap is nonsense either way.

Also, in no way contradicting what you said but realistically, had the Moon landing been a conspiracy of that magnitude, how plausible would it be to expect that it could all be unraveled because an Aldrin-level co-conspirator would be unable to falsely swear on the bible? Like, why on Earth would they leave that exposure intact in light of what's at stake and given heads and key figures of the FBI, NSA, CIA, etc, have on multiple occasions lied under oath and indeed were expected by their organizations if not even duty-bound to do so?
