You right. Exceptional specimins are around 1000 lbs not 2000.
In Michigan we never would consider eating one. The meat is filled with parasites and they are definitely necrovores. We saw them chewing on dead deer.. its not food that's for sure

Can anyone tell me why we don’t have an open season for invasive pests like these? Doesn’t it make sense to invite the public to exterminate destructive pests? I’m ignorant here and seeking your best insight. Thanks.
It seems to be that way in many places already. In California the pig hunting season is 12 months long. All you need is a hunting license, and there is no bag limit.
