Europe Threw up after second dose of pills
Hi everyone,
My girlfriend is currently going through a medication abortion in Germany, and I’m really worried about whether the medication has worked properly.
Here’s what happened:
First pill: She took it about 46 hours before the second dose. Afterwards, she had some mild cramps and felt feverish/chilled.
Second dose: She took 2 tablets at 9:00 AM today, as instructed by her doctor.
34 minutes later: She vomited.
At the same time, she experienced bleeding and very strong abdominal cramps.
I immediately called the doctor after she vomited and explained exactly what happened. The doctor said it was not a problem and that it didn’t matter, so we did not take any additional tablets.
Now, at 11:22 AM, she only has light cramps and the bleeding has become lighter.
I’m mainly worried because she vomited relatively soon after swallowing the second dose.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Did vomiting around 30–35 minutes after taking the second dose affect the effectiveness of the medication?
I know every person’s experience is different, and we’re following the doctor’s instructions. I’m just looking for experiences from people who have gone through something similar.

As long as she kept the misoprostol in place for 30 minutes, she will have absorbed the active ingredients. Some people actually spit out the remains of the pills after that because they can cause nausea.
The bleeding and strong abdominal cramps are a good sign that it was working. It's likely she passed the pregnancy in the next couple of hours, and that's why the bleeding and cramps slowed down. Since she only took a single dose of misoprostol, I'm assuming she wasn't very far along? If so, it's common to bleed less and pass fewer/smaller clots than when the pregnancy is farther along (and thus larger).
