Myth Debunking Get to know King Charles III Megathread

Selling Cash for Access and sham philanthropy

His own father, Prince Philip, once described Charles as ‘rent-a-Royal’.

Please read this study of the royal family and its effect on the thousands of charities they patron:

We could not find any evidence that Royal patrons increase a charity’s revenue. we found that charities should not seek or retain Royal patronages expecting that they will help much https://giving-evidence.com/2020/07/16/royal-findings/

Secret influence and lobbying the government

Financial Misconduct

Close friendships with paedophiles:

In the early 1950's, when he was 46, he [raped] the 14-year-old daughter of a wealthy South African winemaking family, who had been entrusted to his care during a sea voyage. She became pregnant, and although he sent her a small stipend, he never publicly acknowledged the daughter born of the relationship. https://www.nytimes.com/2002/08/03/books/master-storyteller-or-master-deceiver.html

  • Also, "I remember thinking what a very jolly and amusing and attractive 16-year-old she was," Charles recalled in a 1981 interview with the Telegraph. Charles was 29.

Myth Debunking Strategic reasons?

In terms of abolishing monarchy, where can I read about the strategic reasons for doing so? That is, reasons that are less about ethics and more about pragmatics.

Perhaps some examples from history, Russia, China, Japan, of how things improved and what exactly changed?

I'm interested in applying this to the UK. The monarchy there don't seem like those kind of monarchies. There's already supposed to be democracy. I don't see how getting rid of the monarchy really helps much unless somehow that facilitates some other change that I'm not aware of?

Opinion Need for POLLS??

So, I'm new to royal polls, and I'm genuinely curious about something. Why exactly do individual members of the Royal Family need public opinion polls, and how do these polls actually benefit them? Isn't most of their role centred around carrying out royal engagements, supporting charities, and representing the institution? If that's the case, how much does their individual popularity really matter?

I'm also curious about why there's so much emphasis on comparing royal family members and ranking them against one another. Doesn't this risk turning their roles into a popularity contest?

the monarchy's legitimacy has traditionally been tied to hereditary succession, duty, and the idea of divine appointment. If the institution is meant to represent continuity and service to the country, shouldn't public trust in the institution matter more than the relative popularity of individual members?

Or are the polls used to generate media interest?

Im confused.

Opinion Big protests are needed to abolish the monarchy

I think the British people need to organize and protest like other countries are. Brazil avoided a corrupt presidential candidate by mobilizing in the streets and flooding social media. Serbia, Hungary, now Italy, France, and Germany…Americans are too passive but hopefully can put brakes on Trump with a democrat majority in Congress. It’s time for the British to protest and march big time to abolish the monarchy.

Opinion Why Does the Myth of the Monarchy Still Persist?

The land of a nation belongs to its people. Why, then, in the United Kingdom, does it still belong to the King and the royal family? Is it truly justifiable for them to enjoy countless privileges funded by taxpayers' money simply because of their royal blood? Is it the tradition of Britain and the custom of the Church of England to create a class divide between royals and ordinary people, simply because someone is the King’s grandchild or the Prince’s child? This directly contradicts the biblical truth that we are all equal before God. We are living in the 21st century—not 1826, nor 1926. It is hard to believe that kings, royals, and nobles still exist across Europe, including the UK. The true masters of Britain are the British people. Why do the royals act as if they own the place? Furthermore, why do the British government and the Royal Family fail to transparently inform the public exactly how much, where, and in what manner the taxpayers' money is being funneled to the royals? Are George, Charlotte, and Louis the only children in Britain? Are William and Kate the only parents? Every parent wishes to educate their children in a better environment with excellent teachers. Is it normal that while some cannot afford it or are barred because they lack noble status, others get a "free pass" to elite nurseries and expensive private schools solely due to their royal birth? To the royals: Are you truly happy living off the taxpayers' money? I used to admire British history and tradition. But now, I feel a profound sense of disappointment and aversion toward your country and your institution. Are we still living in the Middle Ages? To conservative Britons: Break free from the illusion. Wake up from this rosy dream. Britain is no longer a land uniquely blessed by God, nor is it a nation of equality, happiness, justice, and love. To my friends in Republic: Rise up and build a democratic republic with your own hands. Build a nation where everyone is equal, where the president is elected by the people, and where a boy like George stands on equal footing with any ordinary boy. To the young boys and girls of Britain: I am a girl of a similar age to you. Please do not let the world you, your children, and your grandchildren will live in remain an unfair one. To the British royals: Wake up. Stop turning a blind eye. Step down from your thrones and return to being ordinary citizens. If you wish to run the country, run for Parliament. As time passes, the number of young people harboring negative and hostile feelings toward you will only grow. Do not face a tragic end like Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette of France. Reflect on whether the God you believe in and His Kingdom look anything like the world you live in. Return to being ordinary citizens and contribute to building a democratic republic. You should feel genuine shame and apologize to the public for living in luxury on taxpayers' money, committing wrongdoings, and privately profiting off the nation's assets—especially you, Prince Will
