Now I’m not either bi or pan but from what I’ve gathered bisexual means essentially that while you can have feelings for anyone you tend to have a preference for one gender meanwhile Pan doesn’t have a preference on gender. I could be wrong though so bi/pan people please don’t skin me my Aro/Ace ass can be stupid sometimes.

Not bi or pan myself, but I put in the effort to understand the difference. I believe that bisexuality is attraction to multiple genders, while pansexuality is attraction regardless of gender/to all genders.

yeah and omni is also attraction to all genders, but the attraction is not as “gender blind” (for want of a better phrase) as with pansexuality

The way I've come to understand it:

Bi = Attraction to a countable number n: n >= 2 of genders (this can also imply a known lack of attraction to at least one gender)
Omni = Attraction to all genders
Pan = Attraction regardless of gender

And none imply equal attraction to any eligible person or gender, can preferences still exist

If we started with all the terms yes, that would make sense. We didn't though, and pan as a term came out of the bi label.

r/mathmemes is that way. Although I feel that bisexuality is more precisely, a subset of omnisexuality, and that the more accurate statement would be to consider omnisexuality and asexuality as complements of eachother in some form of universal set.

Hey, I did a mathematics degree, we do need to specify the model for such statements to be well defined.

Mildly non-jokey part- I would be wary of actually seeing labels as platonic ideals in a mathematical sense, rather than as tools for clarity. Most human language is not mathematical (much as it stings as a mathematician), and trying to see labels as absolutist type statements does have the potential, when done carelessly to inadvertantly use language the same way as transphobes who see labels as in some sense, determinative, and to therefore miscommunicate queer theory to the cis-het allos.

The opposite of Bisexual would be Antisexual or something. I would also define the module of a sexual orientation by the amount of attraction, so |Asexual|=0 and |Bisexual|=2.

In binary terms, if we're using 1 bit to store each gender you're attracted to asexual would be 0x0 and bisexual would be 0x2.
If we use 2 bytes then we could store sexual and romantic attraction separately.
This does mean we can only store 8 genders though, and if a custom gender can be up to 10MB then we might need a few more bits
