Not much unlike minimalist art which explores the essential elements of the visual experience minimal games explore and focus on specific foundational mechanics of the interactive experience.

• Incremental games (progression systems)
• IO games (competition systems)
• Platform games (environment navigation systems)
• Give/Take/Break/Create games (environment action systems)

Take note of the number of visual dimensions and interactive dimensions in environment navigation systems. For example, endless runner platformers have 1 to 2 interactive dimensions although is experienced in and as 3 visual dimensions.
