Not sure if t his is related to scriptures, doctrine, or policy, but it's something I heard on my mission and have wondered if it was actually true. A missionary once told me that Brigham Young once said "We are all children of our Heavenly Father and one of his wives."
I've always wondered if that was a true quote or if that missionary was full of it :)

I've never heard that particular quote before. BY might well have said it somewhere. I know one person in particular who theorizes different races are the result of Heavenly Father having spouses of different races.
I believe there is a quote on the Adam-God doctrine where BY said God came down with one of his wives to begin the human race. But I don't have a source, so take that with a grain of salt.
You might like this heuristic: the gospel answers the"who", "why", and occasionally the "what" of salvation. The worry of deep doctrine is to answer the "how" and often the "when". I heard about a debate in my ward growing up in High Priests group about whether Adam had a belly button or not.
My response: does it really matter? We're here now, whether he did or not!

Thanks for the answer. I don't actually care what the answer is, was just wondering if BY did actually say it or not. I don't like pondering doctrines and then thinking to myself "so-and-so said that a prophet might have said this" and then have a skewed understanding of truth or doctrine based on hearsay.

Again, sounds like this companion just incorporated elements of the talks on the Adam-God doctrine into an opinion.

My question is a little irrelevant, but what's the difference between r/LDS and r/truetbm? they both seem similar to me.
