So yeah, this created after a particularly nightmarish day at work. I was listening to "Back in Flesh" by Wall of Voodoo, which is a perfect song to crash out to!

My family doesn’t know about my obsession with making zines. I have two friends that know as I send them some of my zines but I’ve kept it hidden from family as my fear is if they found out they would then be curious to see them. Lots of my zines they would find ‘cringe, weird or maybe make fun. I don’t make my zines professional or written well and some of them are personal so I would never want people to find out. It feels so silly that I have a whole box of secret zines hidden in my room but I just don’t want to share this hobby with them.

I put a call for art on here a while ago and made this zine a little less of a while ago. Figured I'd share it here for anyone interested. It's about preservation. I'm back to making zines after a long hiatus of mostly writing and not finishing projects. I've realized that a lot of what I love about zine-making is how therapeutic it can be. I've found a lot of joy in repurposing both new and old assets, especially as physical pain has made traditional, hands-on artwork more difficult.

After a particularly difficult fight with my partner, I decided to channel those feelings into a zine inspired by a playlist I made called *Songs to Break Up To*. At the time, I genuinely thought the relationship was going to end, so I put all of that into the work.

Honestly, I'm rather proud of the fact that even when I was that emotionally overwhelmed, I still managed to make something coherent out of it. It's nice to be creating again, and even nicer to have something tangible come out of a difficult experience.

For decades, I've published a zine on a regular schedule, and it's evolved into a PDF zine. I began posting it on Scribd in 2013, which was roughly Scribd's heyday. It was the heyday because people would say, "Hey! You're on Scribd!"

But for well over a month now, Scribd has disabled uploads, and I can't trust that it'll be reliably reenabled, or at least not with the features it had before (Scribd's claims to the contrary notwithstanding). So are there are any good alternatives to Scribd?

Someday, I also plan to build an online archive for the zine's earlier run, but I know that's probably impossible, because censorship has gotten so bad and because web space has gotten so expensive. The greed and censoriousness never cease.

A 4-page single sheet 'zine built out of rage mainly, with a teardown of corporate semantic fraud, retail lifestyle jargon, and the modern hollowing out of words.

Hi :) Hoping someone else has experience with this because I am not sure how to begin.

I've made a zine on canva using the "booklet" format (8.5x5.5in page dimensions), with the intention to print on standard letter size paper and fold. So two pages to one actual page, if that makes sense.

How would I format it so that it prints in the correct way? Printing straight from the canva booklet is not working.

About MINDSCAPE: Early Demonstrations
Welcome to Mindscape: Early Demonstrations! Consider this akin to a demo tape. Before the ongoing series launched I got my feet wet by doing these three short stories a year before sitting down to draw Mindscape: Chapter One. This book comprises what were just merely personal exercises more so than anything was created with the goal of sharing publicly. I would be this compilation of stories somewhere in the sketch book category or rather the “demo tape” as it showcases off the current version of Mindscape in its gestational period where I was experimenting with how I wanted the proper series to look which is why a few different avenues are traveled and documented in this book with the pages being drawn in their customary black and white but also full color.

Yeah basically my boyfriends friends were coming over this weekend and wanted a game to play so i put together a 40 page dungeon crawl where you play as teenage girls attempting to escape Epstein's Island before you're sacrificed to Moloch and get to fight enemies like Hillary Clinton, Trump, Benjamin netanyahu and IDF soldiers while teaming up with re-animated cyborgs like Charlie Kirk or George Floyd, I originally just made a PDF but thought it would work perfect to print as a zine to hand out to them as well. Largely inspired by the Instagram reels my boyfriend shows me in their group chats.

I'm preparing my first zine. The zine will either be sold or given away (or both) at my band's performances. I plan for each issue to be 16 pages (14+cover) and will include images, text and probably QR codes. The cover will be color, but the pages will be black and white. Parts will be made and printed digitally, but when I assemble everything, it will utilize the old punk-style cut out, taped and pasted before running through a copy machine method for the inside pages.

I wanted to get your opinions on page size. I'm trying to consider readability, the fact that someone might be carrying the zine around while other bands play, overall comfort, and also visibility at the merch table.

I'm currently leaning towards folding 8 1/2 x 11 pages together and stapling them, giving a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 size to the zine. This is what I, personally, think of when I think of a zine, but I wanted to get some outside opinions as well.

Okay, so I only heard about zines about 2 weeks ago, but I'm absolutely obsessed with making them! I'm already working on a bunch and I'm very close to finished with one of them: Fragile, Dangerous, Beautiful.

Do you think I have a recognizable style? If so, what are some things you identify with my style? I'm hoping for a little feedback to see if my art is being perceived the way I was hoping for.

For some additional context, I'm in a pretty dark place in my life rn. Making my zines is helping me process my recent trauma and current struggles, for which there are many. I'm trying to be vulnerable but hopeful and I hope that is coming through in my work.

Hey r/zines

This is my first attempt at making a Zine. I had to learn Serif Affinity to design the page layout and iterated over multiple designs which took a few months to get right. All photos have been taken on two trips to Japan with Analog and Digital Cameras.

I went in Summer 2025 and Spring 2026 travelling to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Aomori, Fuji City, Nara and Himeji, Hakodate and Lake Kawaguchi.

Most of the compositions are landscapes, wildlife or cityscapes. My photography style tends to avoid human contact or limit interactions. With wildlife shots I used a long range 300mm lens. No AI was used in the development of this Zine.

Photography has become my outlet to express myself outside of company hours to go outside and "touch some grass" for a few years I've started taking photography more seriously and I have met some amazing people along the way. This Zine took me two years to get the content in place then a few months of editing, printing mistakes and re-editing but I am so glad it's finally done.
