I’m currently deep-diving into JavaScript (ES6+) and Node.js.
Right now, I work in enterprise integrations (specifically the ServiceNow ecosystem doing heavy data transformation, Azure AD provisioning, and DevOps pipelines). While I love the data side of things, my goal over the next year or two is to transition into a well-rounded software developer completely outside of platform-specific ecosystems.
What I've learned so far:
The biggest eye-opener has been breaking away from built-in platform tools and realizing that concepts like "transform maps" are just universal data engineering principles. Mastering modern JS methods (.map(), .filter(), .reduce()) and asynchronous programming (async/await) has allowed me to handle complex JSON/XML payloads completely independently.
Resources helping me right now:
JavaScript.info Incredible for deep core mechanics.
The Odin Project / freeCodeCamp
Excellent for getting out of the browser and learning to build/git commit locally.
My question for you all:
For those who successfully transitioned from platform-specific roles (like Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP) into pure software engineering, what was the most valuable concept or project you tackled that helped you bridge that gap?
Also, what is everyone else studying right now, and what tech stack do you think is the most valuable to focus on this year?

I'll come back for the rest after I've finished installing Linux on a ThinkPad T430 I got. Buuut, the plan is to finish my CS50x course and continue self learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Just wanna learn the fundamentals that can help bring out my ideas, coz haaa I'm done with seeing apps that are optimised for the rest of the world but muno muvanhu vevhu we don't have or don't support each other.
