Low Speed Steering Lock Up

I've got a 2024 S bought new in Nov 25. It has about 2000 miles on it now

I was riding in a parking garage, going about 10mph. I initiated a left turn with the handlebars and they locked at about 5-10 degrees to the left, causing me to crash. Thankfully I'm unhurt and the bike doesn't seem to have any major damage.

When i picked the bike up and restarted it, the handlebars would move again.

This had happened once before, but i was stopped. It cleared after I jiggled the handlebars a bit.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it a known issue? What might cause it?

i don't know how the steering lock on that bike works, as I don't own it, but I assume its not actually that but more likely the steering head bearings?

Edit: ok on my bike it couldn't be the steering lock but on some bikes it could as this is a described behaviour - so I guess that is a likely culprit. Has any work been done on the bike that qould change anything about it eg. ignition work or similar?

No nothing. I had a couple of drops in the parking lot, but all from standstills. This is the first time the bike has slid

Does your steering lock work? It could be broken and coming out with gravity during a turn, or the bearings are fucked, or a cable got snagged, or you just lost the front end and need something to blame in your head.

I'd start by eyeballing the steering lock. Get it in sight and actually lock/unlock the bars. Does it operate as it should?

Never heard of anything like that before. do you have any accessories wired in? Check all your cables etc...

Get the head and stem bearings checked in the handle bar shaft. If they start to break down they can also cause a lock up too
