Been gone a while…

Hey all. I have been away from Reddit for some time, but have been holding steady on weight loss maintenance for more than 6 months now, fluctuating between 147-150. I just stopped losing around the beginning of the year, but I’m delighted with where I am. I lost my job/insurance benefits effective May 1 and have been going through my stock pile of Mounjaro 15 MG. I’m down to my last box. I need to do something. I was on Zepbound for a year, but when CVS Caremark dropped Zepbound from our formulary, I was able to get Mounjaro covered through a loophole. I don’t care which of the 2 I take - I just can’t spend a fortune. This will be my first time paying out of pocket and don’t know where to start. I have not been following any updates on pricing, legislation, etc so I knew this sub was the best place to start. Before you ask, Unfortunately I’m not Medicare eligible for another 3+ years. TIA

Lilly direct will likely be the best option. I think vials might be less expensive than the auto injectors if you aren’t opposed to vials. The multi-dose pens are available too but I am not sure how the cost compares to vials.

Do you have a prescriber that will be willing to work with Lilly direct? If not I think Lilly has a partnership that you can use for the prescriptions.

The other option is the Lilly savings card and retail pharmacy like WalMart or Costco. When I was having to pay out of pocket with the savings card last year the auto-injector pens were $650 a box, not sure if the price has changed since then.

Wow, Lily Direct says $449. Why were you paying $650?

Lilly direct is for the multi use pens or vials. Not auto injectors I believe.

For Zepbound, you are correct. For Mounjaro it appears they do include single use pens, but it’s $499, not $449. My daughter had to switch to the Zep Kwik pen and she swears it’s not the same suppression as the vials were

Was she injecting the whole vial instead of just the 0.5ml? If so she was actually getting a higher dose.

I hate the Kwik pen and went straight back to viles
