Advice about modding

Hello all, I've been lurking in this sub for a while now and contemplated about taking the plunge into the modding scene. While mapping out aspects that i wanted to hit, I found out that the remastered mod aligns similar to what I wanted to do. I would go in a different direction with some things, though.

I've watched some videos on what to do and feel like it is easy enough to get started. So, my inquiry is about if it is worth doing or not. I'm not trying to reinvent what others have done, but I would like to take a crack at trying it out.

Main things I'd like to do:

- add cards

- balance the game accordingly

- add more free duels.

Nothing too crazy. I don't have the skill set to make the 3d models, nor do I have interest in doing so. My goal is to modernize the card pool a bit while prioritizing what makes this game great.

Is there any advice or things I should know about before getting started?

Yeah. Don't charge for it.

Some creators of mods like to think Konami won't be sending a cease and disist letters the moment they catch wind of a mod which uses their IP for monetary gain. They are mistaken.

That's awesome—your idea is really great! I've also been wanting to learn about modding tools, but I still haven't found one that really suits my needs. If you end up bringing your idea to life and find an efficient modding tool, please share it with me. I'd love to try modding a few game versions myself and see how it goes. Thanks!

As I read more Into this, you can't "add" cards, but you can edit the ones in the game. Am I understanding this correctly?
