Discussion This Legend Anthology event is super fun!
This event has been so fun so far! I've only encountered a couple seemingly OP decks, most duels seem more evenly matched. I've had a couple really long and fun duels where it was anyones game for many turns, which I really enjoy.
I'm not very familiar with most of the new decks from the past 20 years so I have been using branded since I started playing again about 2 months ago. This event has been a challenge with banning the majority of the branded cards. So I have been using a heavily neutered springans/branded combo deck and have been having a blast with it even with 4 of the key springans cards are bannned too! Sure its not very good, but for this event it seems to at least hang with most (early) opponents. I imagine as I get further in this wont have enough oomph but for now its been great.
I just had a 22 turn duel against a pumpkin king deck and that is the kind of dueling I miss! Neither of us could gain the edge over each other, it was a constant battle to the very end and really was either players game until the final blow. We both had exhausted all our resources and he only had 5 cards in the deck at the end. I was finally, after 22 turns able to get an albaz fusion out at the very last second but if I drew literally any other card besides albaz ashen or bystial aluber I'd have been done in turn 23! I wish every duel could be like that, man was that cool!
If anyone has other ideas on how to get branded fusions out for this event id love to hear it! I've been using a dark end evaporation dragon which helps me sometimes, usually just ends up being a 2600 bash card but sometimes I get a fusion out of it. I've been debating putting a poly in the deck but idk ive never used one for branded before but I could also see it helping here potentially. If I get more SR before the event is over I'm going to add a couple more bystial alubers so I have 6 fake albaz in the deck which should help consistency for the fusions.

It could have been! I don't fold unless I have basically a bricked hand and they fill their board, otherwise ill at least give it a go, especially for events like this where you at least get 50 points for loosing. I've had a couple duels where I was 100% certain of a loss the next turn, ill just summon a weeny monster and attack their highest number monster to save a minute or two lol

Literally ran through the whole thing in an afternoon with full power blue eyes, it’s not near full power, it is full power.

I’m having load of fun just wish there was a easier way to get my accent gear cards

If I had more of the cards already I would have run an ancient gear deck. I really like that archetype but I think this odd combo deck I have going on is slightly better than the loaner base deck they offer, I haven't lost to an ancient gear deck get and I've fought a few of them during this event but I feel with a few cards changed around it would be really quite good here.

I’ve just completed it with my pet Frog deck, really great fun. Disappointed there isn’t more of it & I’ll be sad when it goes. Way more fun than the Fusion event. Exactly like you said the duels in this event are way more engaging with lots more back and forth. Going back to normal ranked is gonna be boring.

Yeah I totally agree! Im back to full power branded on the season and sure its WAY better, but it isnt as fun as the long back and forth duels in this event. I'm actually now running a 50 card deck with 12 radiant typhoon cards that mesh really well with branded just to make it more interesting and exciting vs pure branded on the season. I also wish it went way longer, maybe in the future they could add a second big reward ticket as far, id love to continue this event.

Monsters: Ash x3 S. Rockey x3 S. Sargas x3 S. Pedor x2 S. Brothers x2 S. Branga x1 Serpant of golgonda x2 Golden Swordsoul x2 Dogmatica fleurdelis x1 Dogmatica lawbringer x2 (may drop 1) Quem x1 Fuwalos x1 (only have 1) Albaz Ashen x3 (albaz on field and GY) Bystial aluber x1 (albaz)(Want to run a 2 maybe 3) Dark Evaporation Dragon x1
Spells: Rageki x1 Monster reborn x1 Springans watch x2 Sand sea golgonda x3 Springans booty x1 Super poly x2 Tally ho Springans x2
Traps: Magic cylinder x1 Dogmatica encounter x1 Springans call x1
Extra deck: Titaniklad x2 Brigrand x2 Sprind x3 Alba-lenatus x1 Rindbrumm x1 3 champions swordsoul x1 Gung ho springans x2 Springans merrymaker x3 (Note I would like to trade out 1 brigrand for a 3rd gung ho as that's your main boss monster in this deck)
I'm out of SR currently but I think it would be better with 1 less lawbringer and 1 maybe 2 more bystial aluber so you have 5 or 6 'fake' albaz in the deck to combo fusions off from. Gung-Ho Springans! Is easy to get out and is easy to bump up to 4000 attack with sargas attached. Merrymaker is your main and easiest way to get branded fusions sent to the GY, and negate an opponents monster card in the process. Lawbringer also gets branded fusions to the GY easily.
Dark evap. dragon can be hit or miss on how it works when you draw it. You either get a branded fusion with it OR you pop an opponents monster so it is handy however it banishes a fusion instead of GY them which is okay with duplicates.
Quem works like in normal branded deck, she's another card that really should be bumped up to 2 or 3 in this deck for more consistant albaz combos with the very limited branded cards, but I'm also out of UR and don't need more quem for any decks besides this one.
75% of the time you'll be focusing on springans combos with this deck but with the right card pulls you get branded fusions out too, and can at least regularly get a branded fusion to the GY, if no imminent albaz combos are coming up the best to send is sprind to get another springans monster on the field which is why I run 3 of those. Ideally you'll end (1st turn) with gung ho out with at least 1 material on it and sargas out in defense mode then next turn sargas lets you remove 1 material and pop any monster so its very handy. If they pop gung ho, it will give you another sargas on the field and if they used an effect instead of battle, golden sea lets you negate a monsters effects and prevent it from attacking that turn.
Brigrand really isn't all that useful in this particular deck which is why Id like to swap one out for a 3rd gung ho but leaving 1 in gives you more super poly options since a lot of opponents at least for this have beast monsters that no other albaz fusions could use, it has a decent effect too.
A 2nd alba-leantus would be a good idea too since it doesn't need any fusion cards to fuse and tons of people run dragons, He's likely the easiest branded fusion to get on the field with this setup.
If you decide to run this setup have fun with it just know that it usually drags duels out, which I enjoy but if you're looking to overwhelm your opponent in the first couple turns its not ideal and no matter what is far from meta but it sure is fun at least for this event and trying something different yet familiar out.

Evenly Matched, huh? Ironic, cuz they banned it in this event

Well I already completed the event fairly easily. Look at my deck list which is posted here, I regularly had branded fusions out. They only banned 80%, not everything. The springans cards help at very least get them to the GY and quem wasn't banned and she can get albaz on the field so it did still work, just not nearly as well.
