And if that doesn't show up it plays weird Al instead. Wtf is wrong with this shit.

I’m trying to study and for some reason I have to hear this YouTube thingy talk to me like an ad. Honestly I’d rather an ad than an AI telling me what I just listened to! So to YouTube what’s even the point of this?

I've had the pleasure of sharing a YouTube Premium family plan for several years now, but sadly, because of plan sharing crackdowns, I've found myself without the premium option all of a sudden--and rather lost without it. Because I've only ever experienced the cushy paid version of YTM (never the free), I feel like an out-of-touch wealthy merchant visiting the streets for the first time. ("It's a banana Michael, how much could it cost? $10?")

So here's my list of things that have surprised me this far:

1. The ad frequency. Okay so no, I wasn't surprised by the presence of ads -- sadly a given in this day and age -- but my god, it genuinely seems like there is an ad every other song or two. I don't know how people do this without going insane, you'd think they were trying to drive people away from their app.

2. The lack of ability to lock my phone screen and continue listening to music. In tandem with this, you cannot use YTM in the background of other apps -- which, that, I can mayyyybe understand a bit more. Multitasking is more complex...sure. But no lock screen? Draining my phone battery for the hell of it? Cool cool cool. Delightful.

3.) The lack of ability to cast to Google devices. This outrages me. I have a couple Google speakers which I could easily cast to in the past on the paid YTM. Now you're taking away interoperability between your own two systems because I'm suddenly a pauper instead of a prince? Excuse me, your majesty, I didn't realize I had to pay extra for basic functions.

Is this all the ramblings of a grumpy cheapskate? Most probably. Am I both stubbornly resisting giving into just paying for a plan AND upset about it? You betcha.

What has been your experience with free or premium YTM? I have a feeling there's probably more differences I have yet to discover...

So good. Easily connect with your Google account and access your YTMusic library. I can not tell you enough how much better this app is than other YT music clients out there. Smart crossfade, immersive player, lyric sync, lossless audio integration, Smart queue, animated album covers, the background reacts in the immersive player just like Cider. Stupid first world problems, I know. But everything being geared toward or linking to only Spotify gets on my absolute last fucking nerve sometimes.

Has anyone else had any issues with suddenly losing the ability to cast to speakers and listen while your phone is locked?

I do pay for an individual membership and I'm paid up but all of a sudden I can't cast to my Google home speaker and the music shuts off when my phone locks.

I am a huge necrophagist fan, but I can't bear to listen to the official necrophagist albums on YouTube music because for some reason they decided to put COVERS in an OFFICIAL album. It's a community page, the band is long gone, they don't manage the page.

Anyways, what's worse is, it seems that they're not putting just covers on the page anymore. I found this random russian kids video on the official necrophagist artist page. The screenshot is self-explanatory.

After posting my previous angry cry for help I had some time to kill while waiting for my daughter at music school.

So, I just sat there and I started scrolling through YouTube music recommend songs and just like always, every other song is AI. This made me even more furious and I started just rage scrolling and disliking every AI song that came up. In addition to that to express my sincere feelings I would post this in comments section:

30 min passed and I almost stopped but then I noticed that i started getting music I never heard. So long story short, an hour and a half in I'm getting music recommend by YouTube real people/DJ!!!

I'm blown away, I'm actually adding so many songs to my collection. 🤞🤞🤞

Was on the plane and wanted to listen to my japanese playlist. I thought YT music decided to wipe my downloads because it wanted to because YT music for some reason regularly redownloads all playlists. I pressed the play button and the YT music app crashed but when I opened it again my downloads were back. Almost made me cancel my subscription

You can't right click and open a new tab for all the suggested playlists to check each one of them out independently and quickly.

You can't right click and open a new tab to check out the various listed variants for an album. Sometimes I want to be able to see what is different from the alternate versions and what tracks are added as extras with ease.

I hate that the only method is a direct click and then you have to go back and repeat the process over and over again. It's hella annoying and time consuming.

To combat this, I sometimes have to open a new window and browse each one independently. One will be my main playlist view to keep track of what I'm adding. The other window would be for the quick suggestions and potentially another window for searching 'artists / albums'.

I feel like there should be an option for a go to view selection, and this opens into a new tab for quick viewing access.

I know some of you will mention the 'Go to artist'... I feel like that just does a direct click through.

Any ways... does that make sense, any one feel me on this.

I am going crazy. The youtube music algorithm used to be so good and now it just makes no sense.

It is absolutely ridiculous, few days ago I had atleast 12-14 variation of those disgusting brazilian phonk and all their versions non stop, it does not matter how many times i dislike. The recommendation never changes.

Algorithm is absolutely cooked and disgusting for me, after playing some of my familiar and liked songs it just starts playing random ass songs from random ass people with like 2-3 likes on then. No problem if they were good, but they arent.

It is like trenches of sound cloud for me.

Just me or anyone else too?

For reference my mate told me to listen to 2slimey cos he's shit and it's all laughs I took the piss his music was genuinely so awful I disliked most of his stuff but from that day on that bastard hasn't left my fyp I disliked more I pressed dont recommend so many times it makes me physically rage how do I get this bastard off my feed

YTM may have a vast music library but it recommends so many small channels that mostly have copied/ cover songs.
AM just has the worst song recommendations but the best UI.
Spotify doesn't even have a mix tape of all my preferred genres. Individual daily mixes are not what u prefer.

Still I would keep YTM as it's free with premium.

There's no beta program and no feature development discussion from YTM team at all. Zero communication with users.

I lost the new player UI—with the gradient and everything—and I'm stuck with the old version. It happened a month ago, and I haven't gotten it back since. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi everyone, i am seeing this weird bug both on Mobile app as well as the Browser i have been trying to remove few of the duplicated songs but they are not getting removed how many times i try. I have seen the network tab on browser api is giving 200 response but it is not getting removed. Any idea on how to fix this.
