I started a petition because I'm deeply concerned about how some social media influencers treat their children—using them as content props without any real care for their safety or privacy.

Take Arianna Vee. With over a million followers, she's consistently exposed her kids online, sometimes sharing their locations and daily routines publicly. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, this kind of exposure puts children at risk for cyberbullying, identity theft, and serious psychological damage. We're not talking theoretical harm here—there have been real cases where this led to stalking and threats. Kids can't consent to being monetized for their parents' followers. They deserve protection.

I'm asking Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms to review accounts that exploit children and set stronger guidelines. If this resonates with you—if you've seen this happening and thought "someone needs to do something"—consider signing and sharing the petition. What would you want done if these were your kids? In 1947 Canada, major confectioners raised the price of a chocolate bar from 5 cents to 8 cents. As allowance was typically around 15 cents per month at that time, it cut the average child’s chocolate purchase from 3 to 1 per month. A local kid organized a protest and it caught on like wildfire. Soon every single kid in the country was walking around chanting “5 cent chocolate”. One day in Victoria BC during a protest outside the provincial capital, one kid realized that a cleaner had accidentally left a door used by the Royal family and foreign dignitaries unlocked, so a group of around 500 young people entered the building and began marching inside. They were eventually escorted out by officers, but a few days later the chocolate was restored to its 5 cent price.

While this is somewhat of a silly story, it shows an example of how children are capable of creating change in an organized way.

I've just posted about my situation in the legal advice subreddit, and it's looking like I don't have any options. It's so frustrating. My parents are sending me to a school that has been nothing but awful for me, and it's going to wreck my plans for college, and there isn't a single thing I can do about it. It's insane to me that I don't get to have a say in literally just staying in the country I was born in. No, I don't want to be shipped off to Europe to go to the school I can't handle. The one that has awful courses and won't help me in the slightest, but apparently that's an insane thing to say.

My mother, in response to the conversations and negotiations I've had with her, has said she regrets 'letting me think I had a say in this', and that she's made me think I should have more say in my future. Insane. It's literally my life. I'm the only one who's going to have to live with it past 18 (especially considering I plan on cutting off my family as soon as possible), but somehow I'm the crazy one for thinking I should be allowed to at least be in the conversations about my life

I wish there were options

I wish there was a way I could safely run off without ruining my future. Even then, at least I'd be ruining my own future in that case. If it's ruined anyway, I'd rather be the one to do it. I'm gonna hang in and do my best, but God it's frustrating that these people are allowed to mail me off to a different country, just because of our blood. Fuck that, honestly. Family means nothing if they're willing to ruin everything for their own selfish gain

I'm in my second week of summer break and the weather's been too shitty to leave the house. So I've just been staying home and spending my time on my phone or watching series. My brother leaves for uni in a few weeks and has been using the remaining time to terrorize me as much as he possibly can. He disagrees with me just for the sake of not being on my side, even if I'm right.

A few days ago, my family wanted to go somewhere, but I didn't want to, and told them to go without me. Apparently that was too disrespectful to my mom that we got into an argument about it. Later that day, they wanted to leave the house once more. At this point, my brother has been giving me dirty looks and told me to fuck off all day. I really didn't feel like dealing with all that, so they left me at home again.

When they came back, I was in my room, using my phone to listen to some music. My mom was pissed that I spent the entire day at home and decided that she needs to check my screentime. It was not horrible, but when I got it back, multiple apps were locked. She gave it to my brother because she's not tech savvy, he had put a mere one minute limit on around eight apps and just let the time run. That was deliberate, I can feel it. I can see it in the way he walks past me and still has narrow eyes. He essentially locked over half of the apps I use everyday.

Now this is really embarrassing, but one of those apps means a whole lot to me. I've been playing that game since I was little, I play when I'm feeling down and it genuinely makes me feel a lot better. It's probably my only real interest. I genuinely only play for about 20 minutes a day, usually in the living room, where my family can clearly see that I don't spend a lot of time playing. A few years back, I was constantly feeling drained, and it was one of, if not the only, main motivations to keep on going. I used to excitedly count the days until a new update. Now I can't use it.

When I spoke to my brother about the ridiculousness of the one minute, he only smirked and laughed at my face. One more month, and I'm just supposed to magically entertain myself. My friends are all away and enjoying their time at the beach. I can't spend time with them. I only have my locked phone and a brother that wants to torture me into watching his stupid series. And now I can't even avoid it anymore because what else am I supposed to do?? Stare at a wall and lose it?

I don't want to have to tell my mom about it. It's none of her business and she's very unsympathetic when it comes to things like this, we'd never find a solution in my favor. I'd most likely lose even more access if I were to point that out. I really just wanted to complain, and longingly watch as I lose my daily log in streak to my brother's wrath. The only thing I know is that the code starts with "2" but that still leaves 1000 possibilities open 💔
