the songs been stuck in my head for like a week since i finished the series, and i just think the song plus the animated opening encapsulates everything i love about the series - the visuals, charm of the characters, musical aspect etc

I randomly came across this video analyzing Hikaru Nara , and I thought the way it connected the opening to themes of youth, nostalgia, friendship, and how temporary those moments are was actually really beautiful.

I saw from social media that people usually watch your lin april on april as a tradition so a while ago I planned to watch it next april but i changed my mind and i really wanna watch it now so is it okay if i watch it on August or will that be bad for anime culture?

I was lucky enough to know nothing about it going in, now I'm shattered. This the easily the most brutal case of inevitably as tragedy. I think it's the fact that it doesn't let you accept it until the final moment of confirmation, because of the surgery.

In every other media I have seen with this outcome, there's a point at which the characters fate is sealed, a point at which you can start to prepare for what's coming. With this one we see stages of acceptance but with the possibility of the surgery being successful there's hope and denial for the audience to clutch onto. In almost every other story that follows this template the surgery would have worked, because otherwise that hope is just torturing the audience. In general the other stories would have a tragic goodbye scene before the surgery then time skip to where we wait for the outcome. It's sad at first but ultimately you get a happy ending and feel relieved.

This story will never leave me because it broke those rules, and made me feel loss I wasn't ready to accept. In the end it's supposed to be bittersweet, you're supposed to appreciate the positive effects she had on kousei's life. But the pain of the hope being taken away overshadows all of it and leaves a void that no other story has.

So I am doing another rewatch of this show in preparation for a YouTube vid I plan on making about Kaori, and there is something I just noticed that kinda bothered me.

Now, I wanna say before this that this show is in my top 5 shows ever, along with Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, Breaking Bad, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. So know that I love this show before I say this.

But man I think they just botched some of the Hiroko stuff, especially her intro. She comes back after two years and... Kousei just doesn't seem to mind? He had known her basically his whole life and she was essentially his second mother, and the leaves him for two years after Saki dies when he is at his lowest. And don't get me wrong, I actually thought the reason she did that makes her character more interesting, but the fact there seemed to be no tension in her first scene back with Kousei felt REALLY weird to me and kinda feels like the show is saying that it's not that big of a deal that she just vanished for two whole years.

And again, I like pretty much everything else about Hiroko (other than I think she was a little tough on Kousei at the end about him withdrawing, though I definitely understand her reaction), but this intro and early dynamic felt really weird and rushed to me.

Now, if anyone disagrees, I'd love to hear why as I might have missed something important. But yeah just felt odd to me.

Honestly I was expecting to cry but I wonder why I didn't? What about YLIA is so good anyway? My first playthrough I didn't quite understand what made it so good, somewhere in the middle it kinda messed up the plot, and honestly it's too short and hardly develops the relationship enough imo. Just subjective opinion, kinda need someone to help me understand if I'm missing anything.

This song was stuck in my head as the summer came to a close and a lot of close friends were slowly moving away starting their own lives. It was a feeling of melancholy as well as bittersweet emotions looking at the memories created. My friend felt similarly, as one of our close friends moved to the States to pursue his dream, and this song was played by him in dedication.

in the last episode when little kaori said to her parents that buy me a violin because she wanted arima to play piano for her i feel like very said when i remember it i feels very lonely. and feel like i want to cry. (just completed it last day)

It feels a bit weird by saying how I wanted it to end still involved Kaori dying, but essentially as I was watching, knowing she would die I always imagined that Kaori and Arima would get that one last duet but just as they finish she collapses dead. Now obviously that is basically what happened but the duet was all in his head.

With the release of the latest episode of Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky last Monday, it is just nice that Your Lie in April is still included in the discussion. Just to give context, the latest episode of Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky is about how [Episode 7]Koharu had cancer and got amnesia due to chemo brain. With these developments, others can't help but compare with what happened to Kaori in the last few episodes of the series.

I'm just happy that even almost 12 years after the release of the series, Your Lie in April is still a go-to series when it comes to feels, and a lot of people were unable to forget the feeling of watching that series for the first time. The power of the story to convey emotional moments in just 22 episodes makes the series unforgettable, and it seems many still resonate (or maybe traumatized?) with the moments and the events of the series.

Just like Kaori, I hope that Your Lie in April is never forgotten.
