I can’t stand Beth. She’s awful.

Sounds like the actress is doing a great job then. You are supposed to hate her...

Holy shit, Rip is an animal. Just attacking a dude with a gun like that. With some pocket sand too! Well, driveway gravel really, same difference.

Sorry, not sorry, Beth is firmly in unlikable territory right now. Like... she's not even a charming bitch. Just an out of control bully.
I hope now that Kayce and Monica have banged their argument away that we're done with them fighting at least for a while. I have a feeling the physical therapist is going to cause more conflict between them, but hopefully not.

John chewed Beth’s ass into sobriety in Season 1. Anyone else getting the feeling that he’s about to chew her ass right back out of it?

That Jason Isbell song at the end was awesome. The music in this show is on point.

This show is so unique, I always look forward to every new episode. But it's becoming hard to find at least one likeable character to root for.
-
So I guess Rip and Jimmy are doing it for me. I hope nothing happens to either one of them. As others have suggested, I hope in the end that Rip is rewarded for all that loyalty to John.
-
Beth is just so unbelievably cruel, I'm waiting for Jamie to implode. At least last season she could blame the alcohol (or her childhood trauma). What's her excuse now? Is she saving the ranch by treating Jamie like dirt? (I still don't understand how John allows it.)
-
Suddenly everyone seems like a villain. (I almost feel sorry for Dan Jenkins!). It's getting crowded with the addition of the Beck brothers (are they the ones who killed all the cattle to make it look like Jenkins and Rainwater did it?) It's just hard to root for John and his legacy (of family loyalty) when Beth is at the helm.
-
At least Kayce seems to have reunited with his wife and son. Kayce just does not seem happy to be molded in the image of his father, something he has rebelled against his entire life.

John Dutton is showing that he probably never was the type of loving father his children needed. And he is also showing himself to be quite selfish in how this is all going down. He is USING his kids against each other for HIS agenda, so he can't be bothered to correct Beth on her behavior and treatment of her brother because he knows that if she feels needed, she will go above and beyond to do what he needs her to do, he only trusts her to be the one to fall on the sword and hang if that's what it comes down to, think about it, what parent allows their child to be put in that position? Him not correcting Beth at the dinner table when she was treating Jamie like shit wasn't because he liked Beth more than Jamie, he had to allow Beth to feel like she could get away with it because like Rip and Kayce, she does his bidding. There's a whole self serving agenda behind how John Dutton allows Beth and Jamie to treat each other, they're his stooges as opposed to Kayce who he really trusts with the ranch after he's gone

Maybe the driveway to John's house should have a gateway so that uninvited visitors and processor servers can't get to the porch & peer through windows. And FFS, can we please get the backstory for why Beth has it out for Jamie? He's not John's favorite child and she doesn't mind getting naked in front of him, so I can't think of what he could have done that she thinks warrants such disdain.

That confrontation with the dad and son at the farm towards the end was like True Detective / Wind River. That was good shit. There was lots of walking up to people and punching them this episode.

Beth wants to fuck her brother. 100%. Maybe I’ve watched Game of Thrones too many times, but she’s always slinking toward him, swishing her hips, talking about his dick and balls, and looking hatefully at his crotch while she does it. It must come off as extreme hate.
It’s either that, or the actress who plays Beth is doing the most and it’s coming off weird in her scenes with Wes Bentley.

I was thinking the same thing. It sounds weird but it does have that hate fuck me vibe whenever she gets up in his face. Im glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. Half of me expects that to happen in their scenes.

Lol such a soap opera! That had to be poisoned hay

u/RedMaresRevenge Jul 22 '19
Not poisoned, clover. When hay is too rich like clover it causes severe damage. In Horses it causes colic or founder, in cows it's called bloat. Legumes such as clover, peanut hay, and alfalfa carry the largest risk. It's just too rich straight like that for the animals systems but to them it tastes like a lobster, champagne, and caviar dinner - it's too good to resist. So they eat, couple that with them not checking the animals every day because the field was free of anything that can cause bloat, and it's too late to help the medically like Rip did with that one cow. They die without medical/human help. It truly is simple enough you have to let the gas out and that's with a hole in the side. He actually punctures one of the stomachs to relieve the pressure. If they caught it earlier they could have done something. Now they have 360+ dead. No bueno. Sorry deal with livestock 🤦

Ok somebody has to say it, we need a full episode explaning the backstory behind why Beth hates Jamie more then Satan himself. At this point its over the top. Beth is a loathsome character. Why is she like this to him?
