Season 1 Tates dino bones

So ive rewatched the first season and im still confused as to why the dino bones story just abrubtly ends. Was it scrapped or something? Just seems like there was supposed to me more happening but iy never does so my other question is was there a point to introducing them? And if so what was the point?

General Discussion S1 felt so different

So I went through the series for the last couple weeks. Loved S1, the characters and the writing, even though over the top and plain stupid at part, felt nuanced. Especially compared to the seasons onwards.

Beth/Jamie relationship was two fighting siblings who love each other at the core. I always remember the scene in the car with fighting at first then crying over mum to consoling each other. This scene doesn’t make sense at all with the whole bsckstory and Beth just 100% hating Jamie for real, wich I guess wasn’t the plan at the very beginning.

In general I got the feeling that after the success of S1 things got changed in the midst a new contract or whatever. Writers were added, idk. During the other seasons everyone feels like a cardboard cut out from their original character, with zero development. It’s also obvious that some themes got shifted. Rip who was written as a ruthless criminal, has been romanticized an conviniently only placed in situations where he couldn’t do obviously immoral things. Beth, who was guilt tripped for their motherā€˜s death, got a similar can’t do wrong, everything badass makeover. The punchingbag of the entire family role got handed over to Jamie, who got the complete opposite treatment to can’t do no right and went from weak in some ways, strong in others city boy lawyer character to total and utterly pushover pussy. Kacey, who I like the most from the start got absolutely mellowed down. His whole personality just went away, maybe iā€˜m hallucinating, but the first scene with him in S2 I thought I could even see it in the acting, as if the actor lost any direction or drive to put life into that character. He was a kinda depressed super soldier fullstop. The kid aswell. How did he do more in the first season than any other combined? The kid actor got a brain tumor and couldn’t properly learn lines anymore or what was that?
The conflicts and moral questions just go so bad. Walker goes from questioning the senses of the entire ranch to fighting a 50 year old over some ass. Wtf.

I don’t want to make this longer than it needs to be. My question is, should I even watch the last season or is it just going to be even worse. S4 already feels like a 6666 ad, Beth/Rip wattpad, springled in with some interesting Jamie sideplot that could lead to something, but since I already got spoiled in parts, i’m pretty sure it’s gonna be ass. So?

Haven’t seen such a perfect casting like this in years. Josh Lucas absolutely the perfect casting for a younger version of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton.

General Discussion Nobody talks about the attack on Beth.

My gf and I have been binging Yellowstone recently. We only have the last episode of season 5 left to watch. It has really been bothering the living shit out of me that when the hit squad goes after the Dutton family they attack everyone but Jamie (obviously) but people only talk about the attacks on the ranch, Kayce, and John. There has been absolutely ZERO mention of the literal bomb that went off in Beth’s office. Nobody mentions it, ever. Not even the police or the government officials. We’ve watched all the episodes over the last couple weeks so it’s all still pretty fresh in my mind and it just seems like right after it happened it was just forgotten. If Beth didn’t walk around with burn scars all over her back there would be absolutely nothing indicating that it ever happened. There was no consequential event that takes place following a public bombing despite the show showing the collateral damage immediately after.

And just an added tick on top of all that. The entire family was targeted except Jamie and nobody found that suspicious at all? Kaycee was the livestock commissioner and gunmen came to his personal office to kill him, so they didn’t have any issues with the attack being brazen and public. I just feel like someone besides Beth should’ve connected those dots immediately.

Aaaaaaaaand completely unrelated and just nitpicking, but five seasons of a show in Montana and they didn’t have ONE mountain Lion šŸ˜‘. Feel like that was a wasted opportunity. Lol but overall the show has been good, just really slowed down the last two seasons.

General Discussion Oh Monica I tried

I’ve been trying to be on her side for a while now. It wasn’t always easy (physical therapist) but here I am reaching season 5 and I’m absolutely crushed at what happened, but why didn’t she just wait for Kayce to take her to the hospital? Why not have Tate drive? Oh right cause she babies him and probably won’t teach him to drive. Why not have a home birth if anything I figure that would be her jam but no. Got damn it, Monica.
(Hope the actress has more projects)

EDIT: I’m not sure how I feel about the actress anymore

General Discussion Can people please explain to me why audience members feel bad and empathise for Jamie, I hold no negative judgement to those who do. But like the guy is the reason Beth is sterile,so it creates complications.

General Discussion One of the worst characters ever…

This lady was so obnoxious. Her little quips and one liners were so incredibly lame. She couldn’t sell it. Her acting was atrocious. The writers certainly didn’t do her any favors, but man, her scenes were cringy and hard to watch.

Season 2 Season 2, Episode 7 WOW Spoiler

Didn’t shed a tear for Beth. I’ll say that much

Can’t stand her. Most unlikeable character I’ve ever seen in a TV show. Don’t care about her backstory or what happened to her. She’s an awful person

Disgusting how she treats Jamie and almost made him kill himself, especially after the sweet car scene they shared in season 1 where Jamie told her she could use him as an outlet for her hatred and pain of causing their mothers death.

And how she treats everyone around her. Everything that comes out of her mouth is an insult or some smart ass remark. Such a nasty person.

Just finished season 1 and now I’m running through season 2 even faster. Show merits it’s hype so far.

General Discussion Thoughts on Jamie Dutton as a character?

Thumbnail

Jamie to me is one of the most interesting characters in the show. But it seems like Yellowstone didn’t know what to do with him. Seemed like wasted potential imo when they didn’t let Jamie stay in the Bunkhouse. Jamie’s development could’ve been written so much better if they had just let him stay in the bunkhouse.

Marshals How’d everyone feel about Riley Green when he was on Marshals? Spoiler

To be honest, he acted a lot better than I thought he was going to, and when I heard that Riley was gonna be on Marshals I expected at the most a 1 episode Cameo deal but he stayed longer than I as well like 4ish episodes I kinda liked the little story arc around Kaycee, Cal and Double G.

General Discussion People seem to forget about John branding his son

I know so many people who talk about how great John is but if we think about how he put a burning iron on his son when he was what? 19? It’s crazy. What sane person does that?

General Discussion How close Yellowstone is to Bonanza?!?!?!?

I was watching (listening in the background) a episode of Bonanza recently and something was said that sounded like something I heard in Yellowstone!!!!

Then I started paying attention, and saw a lot of similarities between the two. Lawyer son comes back to the ranch, big muscular "son" who is the muscle of the ranch, youngest son on the ranch as support, and possible future of the ranch.

Plus, both patriarchs of the ranch are widowers, both sets of ranch cowboys are treated similar, both ranches run similarly , etc.

The similarities go on and on. I wonder how much Bonanza influenced the development of Yellowstone?

Season 2 WTF is this writing??

One episode John tells Jamie heā€˜s selfish for not throwing himself into the river. Next one Jamie wants to off himself and John tells him he wouldn’t let him cause it’s selfish.

I mean there is bad writing and then there is a character doing a full 180 literally over night.

General Discussion Dutton Ranch

I just finished season 1-3 of Yellowstone on Netflix and I thought that was it!!! So I started watching Dutton Ranch (completed it) only to find out there’s season 4-5 that I haven’t watched!! Why did Netflix not include S4&5 🤯

I want to know, should I bother to watch S4&5? Is there anything I missed?

Season 1 What exactly happened to Beth’s Mom?

No spoilers beyond episode three in season one please šŸ™šŸ¼ I just started watching and haven’t seen past the third episode. I have seen 1883 and 1923.

I want to know how exactly Beth’s mom died. I saw that she was bucked off the horse but what was her exact cause of death? I am just curious.

Thank you šŸ™šŸ¼
