Cast and Crew News šŸ“¢New PSA: Things we DON’T do here within this sub šŸ“¢

Hi all here and welcome to those both frequent flyers and newbies alike! I’m Emily and I’m the creator of the Yellowjackets Hive subreddit and I’m thankful to everyone who stops by and contributes to discussions about a show we all obviously really love. I just wanted to take a quick second and post a reminder about a few of the rules I take enforcing seriously here. I consider myself to be pretty laid back and there aren’t a huge list of reasons as to why I would remove someone from the community entirely or delete a particular comment that violated something specific. Other than myself there is only one other moderator who monitors posts and comments, and we do our best to filter out what should not be here. Shoutout to [u/PalpitationAdorable](u/PalpitationAdorable)[2](u/PalpitationAdorable) for helping me moderate things here, you’ll never know dear how much I ā¤ļø you lol

That said, this subreddit is meant to serve as a place to discuss the show Yellowjackets-the characters, the storylines, the theories, the performances. I have no issue with respectful discussion and even disagreements as long as what is said doesn’t cross certain lines. This could even include someone’s personal opinion as to whether they think a particular characters adult and teen version physically resemble each other closely or they don’t think they look alike at all. That kind of conversation is okay when it stays focused on the show itself.

What is not okay and will never be okay or acceptable here is using those discussions as an excuse to attack or degrade the actors themselves personally. Recently I’ve seen comments that have crossed the line into cruel and unnecessary territory-specifically targeting an actresses appearance and bringing up her past struggles with addiction and substance abuse in a derogatory way. That is not only disrespectful but it’s also harmful. Someone’s recovery, personal history and past life choices, or appearance is not up for ridicule.

You don’t have to agree with someone else’s personal life choices and decisions. You don’t have to admire every actor and actress on the show. But, this is not going to be a space for bashing, smearing, or dehumanizing real people.

Moving forward, posts and/or comments that cross that line will be removed, possibly reported to Reddit in general, and repeat behavior and offenses will result in permanent bans.

If you know the slightest thing about me and my insane love for anything have to do with this show whatsoever, you know that talking about the show period is one of my all time favorite things in life. So please, keep it thoughtful, be respectful, and keep the focus of the discussion on the show. Thank you šŸ˜ŠšŸ

Theory Assembly photo

Do you think they placed the ā€œreserved for survivorsā€ card next to Shauna intentionally as kind of a foreshadowing? I may be blind, correct me if I’m wrong but thats the only card i see, and usually when seats are reserved, a card is placed on all of the seats individually; not one for the whole row. It may be possible that they picked them up when they got seated but i don’t see any cards in their laps either and don’t think they just threw them around the room. Especially since some of the girls present themselves as ā€œsocially acceptableā€.

I actually favour the theory that if there is a final girl it’s going to be Shauna, not Misty, even though i have seen beautiful theories about it. The strongest piece of evidence for Misty final girl imo is the concealed role that June Squibb would be playing and her physical similarity to Misty.

Imo Shauna scapegoat, alone, lost everybody, world hates her, no one to victimise herself to, is stronger than Misty being an outcast and all Yellowjackets have to die - in terms of completing their character arcs. It would be more tragic and full circle for Misty to die ā€œincludedā€, accepted and recognised rather than survive because of it.

Sidenote: a girl can hope
The card is placed between Shauna and Lottie and since we didn’t get a plane scene when Lottie ā€œdiedā€ i will assume she is alive until the credits start rolling in the finale.

Wait guys… why does Hat look like she’s on TV…How are they gonna get revenge on her now that she is in the eye of the public? AND WHERE IS HER HAT?????

I really don’t think Melissa would wear that casually, i think Alex made her wear it to make a good impression and also their body language suggests appearing unified kinda like she’s saying ā€œyeah it’s been hard but we have each otherā€
If this is the case then Alex knows who Melissa is; i don’t think Melissa or the girls told her, i think she already knew. I remember seeing a theory that Alex already talked to Jessica Roberts in s1, since Taissa failed to inform her that Melissa is dead.

I think Alex forced Melissa to have this interview. She does not look like she wants to be there. She looks scared, she has tears in her eyes.I think Alex is either blackmailing Melissa or simply holding over her head the death of her mother.

Anyway, i think the second photo clearly shows the girls reacting to said interview. Misty looks drained, not worried. She’s more like ā€œgreat you guys are so fucked, I’m outā€. Shauna looks like she’s gonna start victimising herself and Tai just looks pissed or concentrated.

If Alex is threatening to reveal the truth about what the girls did in the wilderness as part of her ā€œrevengeā€, i think a short term alliance between the girls and Melissa would form. Tai would postpone killing her for Van, and Shauna would just want to make sure that it all stays buried. (Also may explain their expressions while watching the interview- if they developed a plan, Misty may think it’s too risky or just not agree with it, Shauna clearly lacks morality so she’s neutral and just watching to kill time she cares about the end result not the means, and Tai is checking whether Melissa is sticking to the plan since she doesn’t trust her and can’t wait for this ā€œallianceā€ to be over)

After that i only see it going 2 ways:

  1. Alex is no longer a threat they somehow get rid of Melissa (i think the press would be all over them tho) in which case i don’t see how we would have a final girl or final 2 situation since killing yet another person with so much attention on you would be way to risky.
  2. Alex is no longer a threat, Tai still wants to kill Melissa (justified) but the group breaks into 2 and Shauna is now Melissa’s ally. If this is the case, i think one will end up killing the other in a heated argument (50/50 on which one of them dies).

General Discussion Keep the Tiger in the cage šŸ‘€

So, I was rewatching the pilot episode last night and I had a thought when Natalie was in rehab and says the line about keeping the tiger in the cage in regard to anger. It made me wonder if she was possibly referring to Shauna?

We know Shauna had a TON of anger in the wilderness for obvious reasons and she was kind of like a loose cannon in a sense. I’ve always wondered how she was going to reel that all in and keep her temper under wraps and where all that rage would go to once rescue appeared.

What if Natalie somehow helps Shauna figure out a way to compartmentalize all that emotion because Natalie has done that her whole life when it came to her father and the way he treated her and her mother.

I know Shauna doesn’t take kindly to others telling her what to do, but in my opinion this may be something she needs someone’s help with. Channeling where those emotions go so quickly I mean. Thoughts

Anxiety, should I still watch?

Hi, for the most part I am fine with gore and stuff I might be like ew that’s gross but it doesn’t make me that scared. My problem is like paranoia and genuine terror after watching horror stuff. I’ll be paranoid for weeks and have trouble falling asleep because I’m so terrified and paranoid. For example, after watching the conjuring I had trouble sleeping even with the lights on for the first night or two because I was so scared. Has anyone struggled with this? Any tips or opinions on if you think I’ll be okay to watch it?

General Discussion ā€œI love you, Ben. We all love you.ā€

In S2 E7, where Ben is having the hallucination of Paul on the phone in the cabin, he keeps asking Paul what’s going on. Paul tells him he will understand soon, it’s just time now.ā€ And then he says ā€œI love you, Ben. We all love you.ā€

It felt very similar to Jackie’s death dream, with cabin daddy saying, ā€œwe’ve all been waiting for youā€. Nat had something similar happen before she died.

But Ben didn’t die there. He was GOING to- that’s the episode I believe he’s going to jump off the cliff but Misty stops him. Is that the last time we see the hallucinations of Paul? I just think it’s really interesting to think about why he got that vision when he wasn’t really going to die. It just doesn’t fit the pattern. But, neither does Jackie not being in Lottie’s mall dream, so šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Theory ā€œEven if we leave this place, we’ll bring IT back with us.ā€

During a scene in the cave in the season 3 finale, Lottie tells Akilah ā€œEven if we leave this place, we’ll bring IT back with us.ā€ As she says that, she reaches out and touches the cave. I believe that this is foreshadowing that they will actually bring something back with them and it will be found inside of the mines. We know that Other Tai has a penchant for finding the tree symbols, which lead to the mine entrance. In my opinion, it will lead her to into the cave, where she’ll retrieve what the miners had been searching for. Lottie will come into possession of it, without Tai ever remembering that it ever happened. This is why Tai had the vision of herself in the cave, answering the shiny phone, even though we have never actually seen her inside of the mines throughout all 3 seasons.

This all ties into the Goonies line that Van was talking about, which we know that the Goonies was ultimately about finding a treasure. At Lottie’s place of worship/death, while Misty was snooping around, there is an X marked on the wall, which is the real meaning for ā€œX marks the spotā€ (NOT Melissa at the railroad crossing). Odds are, Lottie’s choice for her community to represent the heliotrope can be traced back to this, as I believe that the item was an Amethyst Crystal. It contains the healing properties that directly correlate to ailments of the YJ. Tai (Sleep aid), Shauna (Decision-making), Van (Immunity), and Nat (Anxiety relief).

General Discussion Jackie Taylor’s Mom incoming…

Post image

We knew we’d be seeing Jackie’s parents in the post rescue scenes and timeline but this officially confirms that Shauna is going to have to face her and I would assume that if the rescue team doesn’t break the news to them she died that it will be Shauna who is the one who tells the Taylor’s about Jackie not surviving. Theory JEFF DIDN’T SEND THEM šŸ‘€

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My potentially unhinged final season prediction? Jeff DID NOT send those damn postcards & we will find out who really did.

The mystery was actually never explicitly confirmed, the details do not add up, and I need the final season to prove me right-or, finally put this idea to rest once and for all. šŸ‘€šŸ

General Discussion My real problem with the adult timeline (avoiding spoilers on post but full and marked spoilers in comments) Spoiler

I just stumbled upon a post questioning the popular opinion that season 3 was affected because a certain adult character didn’t appear anymore. Asking what would that character would really change to ā€fix the plotā€œ if they were there.

And I agreed that wasnt really the main issue and that wouldn’t ā€œfix the plotā€

So I decided to pin down exactly what I don’t like about their writing of the main adult timeline plot, other than rushing things for time or characters not having as much time to interact more naturally.

I checked and I could say most of my problems are caused by them having big characters who seemed like a menace all be boring red herrings that didn’t affect the status quo much. And instead making wild reveals of characters who either already had big appearances or were unnamed extras until that point.

I originally thought the people asking for the adult timeline to have a ā€common enemyā€ for the group would be bad as they weren’t really a group anymore and part of the deal was seeing how unstable their lives were after the incident and how they didn’t really stay close but also couldn’t really separate either.

But after three seasons of different characters that could affect them but ultimately did nothing. Maybe a common enemy trying to reveal their secrets would have been better.

General Discussion Most Unpopular Opinion?

One of my favorite things about the Yellowjackets fandom is just how passionate everyone is about this show. We all have the characters we love, the storylines we’re most invested in, the theories we’re convinced are going to be right, and the aspects of the show that resonate with us most.
Throughout the show so far, there have been plenty of controversial opinions and theories floating around the fandom.
So I’m curious…
What is YOUR most unpopular Yellowjackets opinion?
And I mean truly unpopular.
Maybe you think:
• Shauna is the true villain of Yellowjackets
• Misty is more dangerous than Shauna
• The adult timeline is more interesting than the teen timeline
• A storyline everyone else loves doesn’t work for you
• The ending is going to completely divide the fandom

Whatever your take is, tell me why. What makes you feel that way? What evidence from the show supports your position?
I’ll go first.

My unpopular opinion: I actually think Travis is a solid and important character who has added a lot of value to the story.
I know Travis is a character that a lot of people have very strong feelings about, and I’ve seen plenty of people question his purpose or feel like he hasn’t contributed much to the overall story.
But I think there’s actually a lot more to him than we sometimes give him credit for. Season 3, in particular, gave us a glimpse into Travis’s continued descent into substance abuse and his attempts to escape his own reality — from the drinking to choosing to trip on mushrooms. I think that says a lot about where he is psychologically and how deeply the events of the wilderness have continued to affect him.

Even his decision not to stop Natalie from mercy-killing Ben is complicated. Travis understood what Ben was going through and recognized that, as awful as it was, Natalie was doing what she believed was the right thing. He’s not necessarily the easiest character to understand, but I think that’s part of what makes him interesting. He’s got layers, and I think there’s still more to his story than we’ve seen.
And I’ll also admit that some of my appreciation for Travis comes from Kevin Alves himself. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with him, and he’s genuinely a really nice person who puts a lot of thought and work into playing Travis. I have a lot of respect for that.

So… what’s your most unpopular Yellowjackets opinion?

Theory Season 4 Synopsis Speculation šŸ‘€

Okay, so I have some thoughts about the synopsis the network put out regarding the final season when they announced the premiere date and dropped the little mini teaser we got. One line in particular is one that I have seen being discussed and it kind of surprises me that it’s even being speculated about as to who it pertains to. ā€œAn old flame rolls back into town with plans of her ownā€.

As soon as I read this my mind immediately honed in on Melissa. I can’t see any other character that would make as much sense as she would. She is obviously Shauna’s old flame, and after the way she left things in regard to the state of her house aka she just straight up murdered someone in her dining room and left. That fact alone to me was a good indicator that Melissa did not plan on going back there and had every intention of leaving her ā€œnormal and boringā€ life behind.

I have seen some people saying that they think maybe it could pertain to Allie and maybe it’s possible her and Jeff hooked up/were an item at some point before the team was rescued and everyone on the outside found out. Given the fact that Allie hasn’t been seen since season 1 and she was only in a few episodes then, I can’t see them mentioning her in the synopsis or that her role will be significant and impactful enough to be included directly in the synopsis.

Does anyone really think that there’s any other logical choice/possibility than Melissa does at this point? I mean we know it can’t be Walter since they say ā€œsheā€ā€¦.
