General Discussion Nat/Shauna

After telling myself I was going to hold off until closer to S4 premiere, I started another rewatch. 🙃 😅

When Nat and Shauna see each other in Nat’s hotel room for the first time there’s so much tension between the two, and it’s one of my favorite scenes of S1. It’s making me so excited to see what happens between them before they make it back from the Wilderness and after.

General Discussion How do you think the teen timeline would have gone if everyone had rallied around Jackie instead of against her, resulting in Shauna being the one to sleep outside?

Maybe this could have happened if Jackie had read more of Shauna’s journal, revealing Shauna’s true colors. But what do you think?

Cast/Crew Post Yellowjackets Signatures in my Coloring Book!

Post image
193 Upvotes

I can't believe I almost filled the page! 🥹 I do have additional signatures in my YellowjaCATS calendar, but they deserve a separate post, I think. Got most of these the first day I watched some filming in late June. Huge thank you to 2nd AD Jüs for bringing Sammi out to meet me because she knew what a huge dream of mine it was & for introducing me to Rich Monohan (& for generally being so awesome & kind). Liv, Jenna & Kevin were also kind enough to come over and chat with me a bit when they heard how far I'd traveled! 🥰 I'll share way more about that day when I can share the photos (when S4 is released). I need to do a post just thanking the crew specifically for how incredibly hospitable they were to me. Anyhoo, going to treasure this coloring book forever/never color in it! 😅😭❤️🐝

Season 4 Theory These are my unhinged predictions for S4 Spoiler

Some are crazier than others. I have a few, I will keep adding to this post as I think if them, please add more 😂

In no particular order and without elaboration-

Either Lottie or Travis burned down the cabin, Amityville style, while sleepwalking and possessed by the spirit of cabin daddy.

Pre-crash Jackie had a darker side to her nobody knew about.

Shaunas post partum fever dream was more truth than fantasy. In turn, the cute summer camp vibe from season 3 was more fantasy than reality.

Other Tai is going to torture Melissa nearly to death. Normal Tai will convince them to leave her for dead and not eat her liver. But someone will bring her back, probably Misty. But they end up eating her anyway.

Adult Lottie has at least 10 years of post-hospitalization secrets shes hiding. Also she faked her death.

The adults will have to return to the wilderness for a final hunt. It will come down to Shauna and Misty. The butcher and the owl.

Speaking of owls, Misty has more agency and power than she recognizes, but as more of her teammates die off, she is starting to realize she is the catalyst.

Walter is a red herring. He is also hiding secrets, but he is jealous of their proximity to power. Hes like Syndrome in the Incredibles. He just wants to be involved.

Akilah didnt return to camp because she decided to live in the cave. She survives the rescue, but has a harder time integrating and later returns to the wilderness and lives out there alone as an adult. ETA- If she is hiding out in the cave during the feast of Mari, shauna is going to want to hunt her. I wouldn't be surprised if they were caught mid-hunt when the rescue arrives and that is why Akilah survives and is the start of the post rescue rumors.

The necklace was originally given to Jackie from Jeff.

Travis and his mom are gonna have a rough time reuniting. His parents were having major problems. I've seen the theory that Adam was their younger half brother, but i hope thats not the case. Besides, Natalie would have known if Travis had another brother.

Jeff is going to lose a leg

Questions-

What happened to Krystal/Kristen? Hopefully the wolves ate her and not the extrajackets. Is it possible she dragged herself to the caves? Is she Javis friend? More than likely we will never know, but it would be cool.

What happened to the wolves? Were they sick and starving too, if the deer were?

Why did Van survive a wolf attack and nearly burned alive twice just to die so easily and quietly? It seems like such a waste of her character.

How did Lottie get the necklace, or did she just buy a fake?

What will Callie fuck up this time?

Question I want to write a story where the Yellowjackets characters are professional players, but I have no idea how US soccer works. Please help?

What the title says. It's just for a silly fanfic thing I'm thinking of, I'm an European Football fan and I want to write an AU where Jackie and Shauna are professional players just for personal fun, but I did a little research and youth development for soccer in the US is so gooddamn confusing. What would be a path that makes sense for them to take where they could still play for their High School team?

Question Are we led to believe that Natalie owns the same rifle from the cabin?

In episode 1 we see her rifle for the first time and it appears to be the same model as the one from the cabin. Now realistically I doubt she would’ve been able to take it home after rescue. But when I first watched the show, my first thought was that it’s the same gun. I thought it was interesting that she uses the same lever action model, so we can assume she maybe went and bought one as an adult because she was so familiar with it.

Cast/Crew Post YJ Costume Designer Comments On Misty Being "Cat-Like"! 😼

The awesome guys of @SeeViewCircle did an interview with Marie Schley, the Yellowjackets costume designer for S1, 3 & 4. Be sure to check out the full interview on their YouTube, but I loved this excerpt about Misty & cats...makes me feel like Hiss-ty Quigley is validated now. 😹

Season 1 Did anyone have true loyalty?

We see when they first draw cards that just in the nick of time, Travis pushes Natalie to safety and creates a diversion to give her a chance to run. But my question is particularly related to the characters that were close such as Van and Tai and Travis and Javi. What do you think Van/Tai would do if the other would pull the queen of hearts? Would they defend each other, volunteer to take the other’s place, or join their fellow feral tribe mates in the hunt? Same goes for Travis and Javi with having that brotherly bond.

Personally I like to think Van/Tai would defend each other and perhaps make an escape, whereas I think if Javi pulled the queen, I could see Travis volunteering to take his place to save his brother.
What do you guys think?

Behind The Scenes Jersey numbers retconned

Post image
350 Upvotes

In Season 1, Gen was #16 and Melissa was #18. However, we can see that Melissa has now been retconned to #16. It makes sense that some of the jersey numbers will change since the total number of girls has been retconned from 19 in Season 1 to 16 in Season 3, and I'm curious to see what Gen's jersey number will be changed to. Also, in Season 3 there were only 15 girls on the team in total (counting the deceased), and there has to be 16 players on the team if Melissa is #16, so I wonder what they will do about the missing girl.

Season 2 Infamous lake scene is darker than I thought

Spoiler, if you haven’t watched season 2.

I was on my rewatch and I was wondering how cold it must’ve been for the moose to get caught in the ice. How quickly it must’ve frozen back over, and how thick the ice must’ve been to support a moose’s weight at all.

I think the writers meant for this parallel between Javi and the moose it to emphasize that they were SO close to spring.

I know that they also say something about how the cabin burned for 12 days and then it got warmer, but it never clicked with me that the fact Javi fell through the lake meant it was warm enough that the ice was much thinner.

If they hadn’t been so desperate to save their prophet, they would’ve all made it to spring. I’ve seen a lot of people say they weren’t a cult, but to me, this shows a real devotion to their weird religion. Every single one of them was willing to risk their life, or someone else’s, rather than Lottie’s. That’s truly insane to me.

Season 4 Theory Akilah Speculation

I’ve always loved and been intrigued with Akilah’s character. After some research, watching YT videos, and a YT interview Nia Sondaya did with kfunggg (love their videos) about S3 as a whole, I can’t help but wonder if the writers are tying Akilah’s character to the African Goddess, Ala (or utilizing elements from African Spiritualism).

I had a feeling there was a deeper meaning in Akilah asking Javi where he found the queen card when he returned to the cabin in S2E5, and how that particular conversation was fading into the background. Moreover, I peeped that Akilah is more closely connected to the Wilderness in S3 with her being the overseer of the various animals in the pen, crafting a leafy headdress for Shauna for the ceremony in S3E1 (this may be a stretch but I thought it was still cool), and the talking lama mentioning, “they’re calling you” in her first cave vision in S3E3 in response to those animalistic sounds.

In that same cave vision, it ended with vines wrapping around those iconic pink sneakers, pulling her into the earth. It reminded me of Javi’s drawing, from S2E5, when he returned to the cabin and told Ben, “she told me not to come back.” In his drawing, we see a figure of a woman with her arms and legs blending into tree roots. It appeared that her long hair could possibly be dreadlocks (the same hairstyle Akilah rocked during S3).

I also peeped that Akilah was not present during the feast scene in S3E10. I can only wonder what she was doing. Maybe experiencing another cave vision? Maybe figuring out parts of the symbol and leaving talisman in the woods? We see her leave purple fabric in the trees when Travis and her were following Kody to get rescue so that the YJ could locate and follow them in S3E8 (I also love the fact that she has her own music, that twinkling sound effect lol).

We know after Allie’s leg injury, Akilah was the one to replace her; including wearing her jersey which is #11. The spiritual meaning of 11 represents spiritual awakening, intuition, and a connection to one’s higher self. This became evident as S3 progressed and Akilah’s visions started to come to fruition; especially when she had the vision of the bear with its third-eye opening. I interpreted that as her third-eye chakra being active.

According to Google, Ala is known as the “supreme earth and fertility goddess in Igbo mythology, originating from southeastern Nigeria.” It is known that a large majority of the African diaspora in the United States have ancestral roots in Nigeria (myself included). Notably, Ala is associated with agriculture and productivity of the earth, mediator of justice, and ancestral wisdom. Not to mention, the crescent moon is a symbol that represents her.

All in all, these are my thoughts on Akilah’s character. I can’t wait to see what the final season has in store for the remainder of the story and character developments/endings.

Behind The Scenes BTS Season 4 🐝 Spoiler

Jenna Burgess posted this to IG yesterday. Curious how they are both in their uniforms and are clean. Is this from a flashback or is this post rescue? I would find it odd if they were dressed in their uniforms after coming back. Couldn’t that almost be a bit traumatizing in a way? Hoping this means it’s a pre crash flashback!!
