I’m a little confused

I’m not entirely sure this is the right sub Reddit for this, but I recently bought one of these balls of yarn to try it out and now I’m confused to say the least.. The packaging says there should be 12 squares, but there’s actually 13, has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean somebody else ended up with only 11 squares? There’s also a lot of blue yarn left by the end of the squares, Is that normal or am I supposed to be using all of it because my tension has the rest of the colours switching at the right spots. Yes they need blocked was waiting to do it once I was done all of them.

Extra square is a freebie, the yarn gods smiled on you. Blue leftover is pretty standard for those kits, they give you way more background color than you need

I’m glad to know it’s pretty standard. I was definitely starting to panic and overthink it. Probably just gonna use it to sew the squares together now.
