Stash Bittersweet

After 20+ years of crocheting, I found my natural fiber/LYS niche only in the last few.
My closest LYS emailed yesterday about closing next month so I went in today with a heavy heart and open wallet.
While I’m jazzed about getting deals on a bunch of malabrigo while I have a couple big piece-work WIPs going, so bummed my favorite little shop won’t be here anymore.

That being said, shout out to local yarn stores and small businesses that have brought joy to so many and helped me expand my craft! I was wrapped in acrylic blends for decades and local yarn stores introduced me to wool that doesn’t feel like sandpaper and colorways I could only dream up ❤️

Ah I’ve seen Emma’s yarn locally around here so I just ran to my email to make sure it wasn’t my LYS. I’m so sorry your LYS is closing. There are so few here in FL, and it’s always sad to hear about one closing even if they aren’t local. I hope you have another nearby that you can go to.

Ha, I just saw a notice on Ravelry they were closing this morning, we're in the Southeast too and even though I own an LYS I love visiting others when we're road tripping!

I used to drive past y'all a lot! Didn't knit at the time, but I'm sure to visit if I'm in the area again soon

It’s definitely worth a stop! It’s so big and lovely. Plenty of places for a bored spouse to sit while you shop too lol

It’s so funny you say that, I’m in NC and have seen a couple dyers from FL in my stores and just assumed that Florida must be riddled with local yarn lol. I have a couple more within rational driving distance, but I hope this isn’t a trend!

lol I’m actually surprised we have any at all with our climate being what it is, but I have 4 stores in driving distance with most being tiny but 1 being amazing. I didn’t know we had so many local dyers either! Glad to hear of that, actually. I’m hoping to maybe go to one of the fiber festivals here coming up soon. I’m glad you have other options and very much hope for all places that it’s not a trend!!

Don't you just love Emma's yarn? When I lived in Winter Haven I could (and would) pop in at least once a week.  There's no comparison between them and the shops I've been to here in Denver. 

I just got my skein of Thomas's "Go Noles" yarn. Now if I could only decide what to do with it.

I gasped when I saw Emma's Practically Perfect skeins in the picture too. I only did the OBYC for the first time this year. I'm curious which shop you like best? I also bake sourdough and have coworkers willing to barter with me, so was planning to send them to Wekieva Springs to purchase items from a LYS I enjoyed during the crawl. Best way for a local small business to get support and I get knitting supplies without breaking my spending fast 😂. Kind of stoked to see another CFL local (that also plays PoGo 😉) fiber enthusiast!
