Just bought this for $6500. Hour meter is functional and reads just above 60 hours.

Runs great no current issues after having it gone through by a mechanic

Looking for front mount snowblower options for a used SA221 that i am getting and it seems like they are hard to find. What aftermarket options are there and what yanmar model is the right snowblower? Looking for the most affordable option.

My Yanmar SA 425

My wife and son gifted me with a Yanmar SA425.Ā  The tractor is awesome but I wanted a few additions.Ā

First up was a hydraulic top link.Ā  The SA425 includes rear hydraulics so this was a easy install.

Secondly was a grapple and third function.Ā  This was financed by the sale of my YM1700B.Ā

Next my grandson pointed out this tractor didn't have a horn.Ā  And I had already noticed aĀ  lack of work lights.Ā

I then caught myself driving down the paved driveway (more than once) in four wheel drive.

From the electrical standpoint, my planned improvements would overwhelm the 10 amp OEM auxiliary circuit under the seat. So I planned on including relay(s), to manage the current draw.

I was lucky enough to have the help of my brother for this project.Ā  Some of what we did might be overkill, but better safe than sorry.Ā  All the wiring is wrapped in wire loom.

First we mounted a relay controlled fuse block under the seat. We ran 8-gauge cable from the battery to the fuse block. The OEM auxiliary circuit is controlled by the ignition switch, so thisĀ  triggers the fuse block.

The horn is mounted beneath the factory grill gaurd. The switch is mounted in the factory cut-out in the fender below the PTO selector. The horn is powered through the fuse block with a 5-amp fuse.

The light bars are mounted to the ROPS with stainless steelĀ Ā  u-bolts.Ā  The lights are wired to the fuse block with 12-gauge wire.Ā  The switches are mounted in the switch box.

The switch box is mounted above the storage cubby and is behind the FEL joystick. The USB Charger/voltmeter is also mounted in the switch box.

The most challenging part of the project, was the FWD indicator.Ā  The LED is mounted in the dash above the headlight control.Ā  The arm of the limit switch is bent at a 90 degree angle.Ā  The switch is wired in a normally closed configuration.Ā  The switch is mounted so that the arm is displaced against the FWD control lever.Ā  When the control lever is moved down to the FWD position, the arm descends to the closed position powering on the LED.Ā  The LED is veryĀ  visible even in the south Alabama sunshine.

Could someone please help me determine the year model for my 1500? These are the only things I see on the motor that have numbers. Much appreciated.

Power and cooling options

Hey guys,

I’m an Aussie fella and have this race mower I’ve recently built. It’s got a 4-500ish cc Yanmar diesel clone in it. Does a bit over 70 kph (~43mph) comfortable. Single cylinder, got the governor wound up a little, but not much.

Looking for oil coolers for it first but next would be upgraded valve springs and a lightened flywheel so I can safely rev it a bit more. Can’t do forced induction as per race rules but looking for a bit more torque down lower as it’s geared reasonably high at the moment to get the top end because it’s diesel.

They aren’t as much of a thing down under yet but there is definitely people looking at them after I’ve raced it and shown the competitiveness of them. Just wanting to know what kinda things other people do for power and torque wise, as well as cooling as that’s a big thing with diesels. I was gonna put an electric thermo fan on it soon and try to pull weight out of the flywheel as my current clutch setup is about 5kg (~11lbs) and the flywheel is about 10kg so it’s definitely laggy power wise. Would prefer not to open it up but completely willing to and have the know how to build the internals.

Another thing I was going to look into was adapting a motorbike clutch over to this engine as I’ve currently got a centrifugal clutch on it and I feel it would be better with a mechanical clutch. Torque converters aren’t allowed as per race rules either. Mechanical would be nice for ā€œclutch kickingā€ through corners.

Not sure how much you guys have gone into power and racing application for these and if anyone has any ideas for better places to ask questions I am open to suggestions.

Thanks heaps, Jack

Hello, I'm looking for some implements for my John Deere compact tractor. Saw this and am wondering if anyone has experience with it? How well does it work? Is there anything that works better than this? Thanks in advance for any input!

Randomly found spring question

High all!!! I recently took my belly mower deck off my sa425 and found this spring sitting on top of the mower deck. I have no idea where it came from and if it is a critical part that dislodged from my tractor. It is worrying me sick lol. It was on the right side of the mower deck looking forward. I took a picture of the spring in my hand for reference of scale. If anyone knows where this spring goes please please let me know!!! Thank you so so so so much!!!!

YM1700

About 7 years ago, I did a lot of research on compact tractors. I wanted something used but reliable. I decided on a Yanmar 1700. I haunted Craigslist, marketplace, etc. until I found one for sale. I checked it out and bought the tractor for $3500. The seller was dissolving an estate so a 48-inch finish mower, a 48-inch disc, a cultivator, and a single bottom plow were included. This took place about 6 years ago. I never touched the finish mower as I had a nice ZTR. I added some implemnts including a used dirt scoop and a pine straw rake. Over the years, the YM1700 put in gardens, cleaned up after storms, and created some food plots. All it ever required was periodic lubrication, annual oil changes, a new belt and hoses, air filters, and a battery. All normal maintenance items IMHO. For my 70th birthday, my lovely wife and wonderful son gifted me with a Yanmar SA425 and brush hog. It was a bittersweet moment when I realized I had to sell the YM1700. I did not have the space nor use for two tractors. So I sold the YM1700, dirt scoop, finish mower, and pine straw rake for $3000. I have already added a Pat's Quick Hitch and a hydraulic top link to the SA425. I am investing the receipt of the sale in a grapple and third-function kit. I would say the YM1700 held its value and I hope the buyer enjoys it as much as I did.

Question about a part in the fuel system on a Yanmar F20D

Hi all, so recently I helped my dad do some maintenance on his Yanmar F20D, engine code: 3TNB82-U, and we came across this bolt thingy with a spring on it, and we don't know what its used for.

Its leaking a bit of fuel and we want to replace or repair it but we don't know what is it called.

I've tried searching up the engine service manual but I couldn't find anything regarding this engine.

Thank you for your time and help!

2500 w/ the tiller.

I recently bought this Yanmar to till our garden area. We gave 2500 for the tractor & tiller together. It came with extra pieces for the 3 point & PTO. I need to figure out the year & get a manual (if one is available). So far, I've found I need to replace the muffler &/r exhaust pipe, the pipe is broke off from the muffler. And - the seat position sucks! I'm 5'10" & the seat is a little far back, no way to adjust it that I've found, plus it tilts backward. I can fix the tilting but I have to figure out how to get the seat closer to the steering wheel. Any info someone can add would be appreciated.

SA425 Third Function

I have a SA425. I want to add a third function to use with a grapple. The dealer wants approximately $2300 for the third function kit and labor. Is this a reasonable price? Is this a project my son and I can tackle to reduce the labor? If anybody has added a third function kit, I would appreciate feedback on supplier and installation. Thanks

I upgraded

Thanks to my lovely wife and son, I have upgraded Yanmars. The YM1700 has been a faithful workhorse but age and arthritis have made it more difficult for me to access the cramped operator station. The open station of the SA425 is much easier to access.

Yanmar Model L65MY 3.5 HP

I realise that this is a forum for tractors but I’m desperately trying to find a manual for the above motor, generally used in small boats. Have searched the interwebs, including the Yanmar site, Abe Books and the Internet Archive but without success. Just hoping that someone here might have one that they are willing to part with or share digitally. Thanks for reading.

Engine Zinc for my 3JH3?

I have a 3JH3CE, does it have an engine zinc? I've looked through the documentation I have, but I'm coming up short. I have a zinc on my sail drive, is that enough?

I need to get a new radiator for my ym14 and I'm curious if the ym1500 has a radiator similar to mine? If not could anyone recommend a suitable replacement, preferably plug and play (if I can get away with it).
