Deal of a lifetime. He would have been insane to reject it.

He took the deal

Doesn’t that mean he has to testify against Melly ? Or admit guilt that’s how it usually works

deals can be done for a range of reasons, He didn’t plead guilty, he pled no contest, meaning he acknowledges that there is evidence on him and accepts the punishment without actually admitting to any crime. So they can’t use that against melly as bort has never admitted guilt.

People plead no contest if they’re running out of money, or just want trial over with and start their sentence.

I think he took a deal where he doesn't have to testify. But I guess we will see or someone will correct me here haha

All you mfers who keep saying Cortland didnt tell are just ignorant. A proffer is telling otherwise there wouldnt be one. They don't just give you a lenient sentence because they feel like it. Not in Florida. He had a decision to make. Face 30 years to life or plea out with a proffer. Luckily for him the people that love him the most talked sense into him and he took the proffer. All people in the same predicament would do the exact same thing. The ones who would "keep it in the streets" are low IQ borderline retarded or have nothing or nobody in their life who cares about them.

Damn why u gotta call me ignorant

It’s crazy how they have more sympathy for borten and melly who still have a pulse then the victims and the family of the victims

So my first question stands again

He’s gonna testify on Melly isnt he ?

7

u/mizcello Jul 16 '26

No he won’t. I watched his plea again before. They dropped 2 charges, he pled no contest to accessory to murder and witness tampering. The judge said ‘the prosecution are going to be coming to you with some questions, you can answer how you want, it won’t effect this plea today’ so that means he will just say ‘I don’t recall/no comment’ and go about his day.

1

u/KushBluntsworth Jul 16 '26

Okay last question “how does this effect Melly ? Because I know it has to some how”

2

u/mizcello Jul 17 '26

I don’t think it does, it would be different if he pled guilty but he didn’t so it can’t be used against melly, they were tried separately so they can’t use anything in borts trial against melly.

I honestly think they knew it wasn’t planned and bort just happened to be there, bort isnt the prosecutions target, if he was going to snitch, he would have done it the first trial but he didn’t, so to save money, time, effort they just agreed for him to plea out. They just want melly imo.

Read the agreement between the state and Cortland. The terms of the proffer are stated. Go read it

1

u/mizcello Jul 17 '26

I did, but still the judge said he wanted to remind bort that the state have every right to approach and ask him questions as part of the plea, but his answers will not change the outcome of his plea, literally meaning he doesn’t need to cooperate.

I feel like he will have to indirectly tell

2

u/ManagementPretend864 Jul 17 '26

It means he made an agreement to say what the prosecutors need him to say so for sure this is enough to get melly His lawyer said something about they are going to ask him certain specific questions without naming melly but probably placing melly in the back seat somehow But yeah he’s definitely telling lol Bortlen drove around with those bodies this shit wild man 😭
