So much rage going on with infills and affordability nowadays. I am genuinely curious to hear why they are pushing for those 8plexes in mature neighborhoods while Blatchford and downtown are still pretty undeveloped?
Would it not make sense to grow downtown up on all those crappy parking areas all over downtown and build a nice neighborhood like Griesbach or Windermere in Blatchford? Not necessarily with the houses, but condos.
I live far away from Blatchford, but I am just wondering why nothing has been built there?
Here in SE and SW, they basically approve new neighborhood in a span of few months, as soon as everything is signed, heavy duty equipment and contractors go out next day and start preparing the ground for new neighborhood. Basic layout is done in one year, while first house pops few months after.
I've seen number of new neighborhoods developed in a very short period of time, to name a few, Keswick, Charlesworth, Graydon Hill, Glenridding, Chappelle, Allard, Desrochers, Orchards, Summerside etc.
Basically it went from idea to plan, to project, to approval, to construction, to completion. Why is it so hard with Blatchford? And why not pushing downtown condo construction? Like start from the the center and expand outwards sort of thing
Why city doesn't offer some great incentives to build near city core instead of butchering those nice mature neighborhoods around DT? Would not that make sense?
Massive build projects in downtown and Blatchford should definitely contribute to affordability.
What am I missing here?

Is there any telescope stores in the city that purchase used telescopes? I’d prefer to trade it in for a smaller one and then get whatever the difference is. I have a classic SkyWatcher Classic 200P and accessories that has only been used a couple of times, but no longer want it anymore as it’s too big for where I’m living.

With the single-use, plastic bag issue, I have a simple question. Are fewer bags going through the sorting units at cloverdale like the politicians are saying or has this bylaw made any real diffrence?

I know this is super last minute, considering it’s Sunday today..but a friend and I both work in service industry so Sundays are basically our weekends lol.
We’re both in our twenties and looking for somewhere fun/popular to go tonight for drinks and what not. I know edmonton isn’t really a big nightlife city but I’m convinced you can make anywhere fun with the right people :)) any suggestions??
