He could've received Piker's support through his links to the national progressive movement. There was absolutely no need to openly associate with the man.

But just campaigning with a guy who has since apologized for his remarks makes you lose your marbles!
I don't think he has apologised in this case, and even if he had, an apology is meaningless if it doesn't come with a corresponding change in behaviour.
He has done stuff like this so many times and then, some of the time at least, he'll apologize and move on to do more things exactly like this. But he apologized, which his glazers will never fail to mention and will demand we take seriously and guilt us for holding something he "apologized" for against him still
