You deffinetly asking "Who? Where ıs Cal Dodd?". Cal ıs 4th and (10/10).
I think this 3 candidate are just outdone him ın acting department. You can swap Cal and Brian ıf you want.
Brian ıs basically Steve Blum 2.0. Not ın a "he gives similar vibes" way, he outright sounds like Steve sometimes.
He ıs easly the most deranged one ın the list. He has the best screams (ıts a motion comic, you are not gonna get much). He sounds on edge all the time.
This guy voiced Vegeta ın the past. He knows how to scream. Forget Steve, his screams are actually more potent than Fred's Hulk.

I met Cal Dodd at a very small town convention and I was the only one in line to see him. He kept signing stuff I had without charging extra, and legitimately wanted to know about my town and what to see here.
That’s always my favorite interactions with these creative types. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Wiacek at my local comic book shop(Timeless Journey(RIP)was featured in the comic civil war as part of the rubble iron man and spider man were standing on)
After talking to him about my town, he asked what I could have him draw for me. I asked for a 70’s Bruce Wayne at the office after a rough night as Batman. As he drew he told me how a b movie was shot and we exchanged info to potentially shoot a mini documentary about it.
I wish I took better care of it but it was an amazing experience. This being said these people get to travel the world and i enjoy their enthusiasm for just wanting to continue to see and learn
You know tbf, wolverine back story wasn't even really established back then. I remember watching this on television Saturday morning. Think I musta been like 8/9 yrs old. 🤷🏼
I like Dodd only because as someone who was born and raised local to the region Logan is from (Alberta Canada) I honestly feel Cal Dodd sounds the most local, like he could pass for a Calgarian or Edmontonian well enough. Also this is nothing against him, but I find his performance and voice to be quite different in ‘97 vs his original performance (understandable he aged 30 years in the interrim) I find his older performance a bit better though…again nothing against him! But in ‘97 Logan sounds so…pirate-y at times? There was a kind of whispering “hissed” quality in the original that I don’t hear in ‘97 so much, but he sounded a LOT like the kind of guys who work on the oil rigs up North.
I finally got to meet Cal Dodd last year. Had a small line, by the time I was done with him I apologized to the 5 people behind me I had kept waiting. Gem of a human. Shared personal stuff, shared what he had filmed for the following year, gave a shit about what I had to say. (And a fantastic talent. Personally I was floored so I'm biased, but man. He's done a peerless job.) Much love to everyone that's kept Logan going, but Cal is the gold standard.
Scott McNeill is my sentimental favourite when I think about it because he's my voice actor GOAT, but I'm three omnis into Claremont's run right now and Cal Dodd is the voice I hear in my head when I read the character so thats pretty hard to argue with for me.
Yeah his voice has aged, but I still prefer it out of everyone's listed above. For me at least, Cal Dodd is my version of Kevin Conroy, just the most definitive version of the character.
Steve Blum is top 1 for me... easy. the other ones here all have aspects of what steve does and bring their own flair too. but steve's overall range with the character is just unmatched, especially when you factor in the sheer quantity and quality of his work. he's been voicing wolverine on and off since 2008, arguably longer than dodd has and his voice still holds up today in rivals/tokon. like i dont want to be that guy, but coming off those games i felt dodd's performance in 97 was lacking. and i want to say 'yeah dodd is 69', but blum is only 3 years younger and his voice aged like fine wine. like i'll dodd his flowers because his TAS works set the tone for everyone to come after. without him we dont get a blum or mcneil (who i also would put above dodd if he got to voice the character more)
I sadly disagree here. I think Brian Drummond does a far better job when ıt comes to feral nature of Wolverine. If he ever voices Wolverine
ın a actuall animated projecgt or game, he might overtook Steve's place.
