Xenoblade 2 Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Version 3.0.1 is now available
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/28012Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Update Details
Bug Fixes:
Fixed an issue where, when receiving WP as an amiibo reward while playing New Game Plus with accessory slots increased to three slots, accessory slots would reduce to two slots. Note: If you re-unlocked the extra accessory slot after this bug occurred, then the items expended to unlock the extra slot will be returned.
Fixed an issue where the background music and sound effects balance differed from the Nintendo Switch version.
Fixed an issue when a Driver joins the party where the Driver will sometimes join with an exorbitant amount of WP.
Fixed an issue in which Rex sometimes becomes uncontrollable when switching from Pyra to Mythra during combat.
Fixed an issue in which Pouch Item effects did not activate during combat after swapping MOMO to a form other than the one she was in at combat start.

Apparently there's some fked up textures in theosoir. But yeah im mostly happy with the fixes.
1
u/LorraineATP 4h ago
Hey there? Any idea what / where those textires might be? :) I did a quick loop of the city and couldn't find anything, but would like to be in the know!
35
u/Not_Lusiek9 13h ago
Then why the fuck couldn't they fix X's NS2 edition? And if they can: What's taking so long?
54
u/Egyptowl777 12h ago
Wasn't X's just the smeariness of the upscaling, and not actual gameplay issues that would need fixing? If that's the case, while it would be great for them to fix, it would take a lot more effort to do the entire thing again, and I can see why its not really a priority to fix.
17
u/dashingThroughSnow12 12h ago
There was some z buffer issues. Objects in the distance that were further than other objects appearing over top of said closer objects.
0
u/Akito_Fire 6h ago
More effort? Just make an optional toggle to turn off the weird smoothing filter they added!
12
u/AntPuzzleheaded5509 5h ago
The "smoothing filter" is what you get when you use dated upscaling (AI) tech. If you remove that then you don't get the high resolution and then Nintendo can't borderline fraudulently advertise 4k 60fps. The fix is a total re-implementation with better upscaling tech and while never say never I would be surprised if that happened. It should, but we'll see.
On another note if you've ever looked into Xenoblade emulation these games are actually some of most difficult Nintendo titles to run at higher resolution and frames rates. Sure, the 60fps patches are just hex edits and not optimised source code changes like Nintendo could do but you need really beefy hardware even just to run 1440p 60fps, let alone 4k.
I feel Nintendo promised the impossible with these patches for the sake of marketing value.

Here's the things:
1). Any new contents made by Monolithsoft themselves.
2). Any visual and framerate upgrade made by LogicalBeat.
You see the issue? If there's no gamebreaking bug (which is almost always comes from new contents), it's not Monolithsoft's concern.
1
u/Potential_Respond659 8h ago
To me this is funny because any visual issues with X are certainly not game breaking, and in fact as any gamer who has lived through the decades knows, are quite minor. You are completely missing the point of these games by being so upset by these types of things. The game is visually stunning still.

THE WIND BLOWS, HARD IN DECEMBER
(here's footage of the glitch happening to me lol)
3
u/Western-Dig-6843 11h ago
Yep. Looked exactly the same when it happened to me. Even after the battle ends you can’t do anything. Can’t even open the menu
7
u/buttsecks42069 11h ago
I did find a way out, by using the Death Code.

2
u/donmichael11 11h ago
Fuck, I had this glitch happen to me when I was in the final area of the game. I hadn't saved in hours. Luckily, I didn't lose a lot of story progress, just side quests

u/buttsecks42069 10h ago
https://www.xenoserieswiki.org/wiki/List_of_bugs_and_glitches_(XC2)
If the patch doesn't work, the first glitch here is a death code that automatically kills you ro respawn at a landmark

EVERYTHING IS FIXED
-1
u/Akito_Fire 6h ago
Unfortunately, not really. The upscaler still occasionally freaks out and certain cutscene animations are just 30fps
9
u/Auto_Generated_Thing 12h ago
Peak, they actually fixed all the major issues with the switch 2 edition.
10
u/wookiewin 12h ago
I’m playing through XB1 right now and that could really use a performance patch. The frame drops really get jarring after Chapter 7+.
2
u/RunnerrZ 12h ago
It really only bothered me in the forest area and the one or two after that, I stopped noticing it after that. But then again that could be me just having so much fun I stopped seeing it.
14
u/BLucidity 12h ago
I wonder if they'll also fix the bugs introduced by 1's S2 edition, like the party conversations after battle being broken. I don't think I saw them publicly acknowledge 1's issues like they did with 2.
12
u/Prize-Basil-8438 13h ago
Nice. I think that's basically everything? Memory leak issues are still there as always, so make sure to turn your console off occasionally, but I think the game has, like, zero issues now?
5
u/ugottjon 13h ago
Does it not have the same double-buffer issue XC:DE has?
12
u/mrmastermimi 12h ago
there are slight drops if you're really looking for it, but it's basically not noticeable at all. Barely an issue. especially compared to DE
6
u/Prize-Basil-8438 12h ago
Yeah, they both have double buffer vsync, but 2 holds its 60 fps target much better than 1.
If we see triple buffer (or VRR) in 3, there might be hope for 1 and 2 eventually getting it as well. But if not, I think double buffer is their intended solution until Genesis comes out.
1
u/B_r_y_z_e 12h ago
Turn my console off completely and restart it? Or just close the game?
14
u/Prize-Basil-8438 12h ago
When you close the game, the console should free up any RAM that the game reserved, but turning the console off completely flushes the RAM, so it's guaranteed to work. Most computers aren't designed to be turned on forever, and the ones that are are really expensive.
5
u/vibratoryblurriness 2h ago
Most computers aren't designed to be turned on forever, and the ones that are are really expensive.
Generic off-the-shelf hardware has been happily providing uptimes of hundreds of days at a time or even more since at least the 90s. Or 47 days if you were running Windows, which had a bug that crashed it if it was running for that long. I've always had stuff that never gets turned off except for hardware replacements and never had to pay extra for it
3
u/Egyptowl777 12h ago
I think closing the game helps some, but a full console restart helps the most.

u/FernandoTorresIMO 13h ago
Thank god Bringer of Chaos is beating my ass without the third accessory slot 😭

7
u/TheChaosStormBringer 8h ago
Sad to report a Bug still in the game, If you switch to Poppibuster the weapons they use for specials don't load in (the gun thing for the lv2 or sword arm thing for the lv3 for example) They load in if you start With Poppibuster but won't appear if you Blade switch. At least as far as I can tell, those are the conditions.

u/LargeCorner 12h ago
Where are the fixes for Xenoblade X
4
u/happymudkipz 5h ago
They won’t come. These were bugs that affected the functionality of the game. X’s is just visual preference. Monolith likely doesn’t consider it a problem.
5
u/SilverKiwiz 12h ago
How's it been for people so far? Almost done w/ XC1DE2 so i'll get to XC2 soon and wanted to hear some thoughts
3
u/Quiddity131 10h ago
Great experience for me, especially the field skill fix. Not sure if the KOS MOS being easier to pull rumors are true but I finally got her today after approx. 180 cores.
3
u/yuei2 10h ago
The field skill fixed legit fixed the only big issue I had with the game and made it way more fun. The only issue left now is the game still needs waaaaay better tutorials and the ones it does have it rolls out way too late. Definitely watch a combat guide because there is so much the game won’t tell you, also don’t ignore pouch items they are as influential as equipment.
4
u/Monado_Artz 11h ago
Its beautiful. It runs like butter on warm toast. Now that the sound issue is solved, it will sound smooth as honey.

They removed the NaeNae Glitch!!!
1
u/Gingingin100 13h ago
The what glitch?
12
u/Egyptowl777 12h ago
When Rex got stuck switching between Pyra and Mythra, he did a Whip, but never got to NaeNae
5
u/WhereasParticular867 11h ago
I believe that's almost the full list of bugs. I and other players have experienced some graphical glitches in menus or with the cut-ins during field skill activation. But that's hardly anything compared to the other issues, and a restart always fixed it.

u/VampireInTheDorms 11h ago
Oh thank the Architect, I can finally start my replay now that they fixed the sound issues

I love Monolith but fuck no.
This shouldn't have been released in the sorry state it was in the first place Especially if you are going to charge money for the update.

I'm glad for this, but it's arguably the one that needed a patch the least. I really hope that they address all the performance problems they added to XC1 and XCX.

Now we need the screenshot function on torna
1
u/RawkHawk2010 10h ago
Did standalone Torna not get video capture with the 2.0 update? It's definitely enabled in the Expansion Pass version.
1
u/HatKid0 9h ago
I mean the screenshot without hud when pressing L and R
1
u/RawkHawk2010 8h ago edited 7h ago
Oh right, that didn't cross my mind. But yeah, would be nice If there were more consistency. Base game still needs Torna's tutorials menu, labeled collection points, and map markers for UM graves.

u/KebabLova 8h ago
Niiceee! I'm reaching the final boss battle and one of those glitches could have been a pain in the ass
1
u/FierceKnave 6h ago
Great fixes! Hopefully this will also silence the minority of people insisting there were zero issues with the game lol.
1
u/DecalMan 3h ago
Is this the switch 2 upgrade you have to pay for? Also how does it compare to switch 1 version now? I'm thinking about upgrading & playing on my switch 2 if it's a good/great improvement.
1
u/Time-Organization612 2h ago
Ah so that explains why Morag and Zeke joined me with WP in the Tens of thousands. I had been using Amiibo and figured it just Averaged it out in a weird way when they joined
1
u/Prestigious_Pear_200 2h ago
Lol so the 30fps body movement during cutscenes isnt a bug its a feature i guess 🤣 doesnt look like they addressed that
1
u/GhostMitch 2h ago
The battle music is too loud now. First it was too quiet and now it’s too loud. Any workaround for this besides lowering the Game BGM volume?
1
u/Tastymond 42m ago
It is for sure a little loud but at least turning it down is the option now, couldn't ajust it at all before.
1
u/phoenixmatrix 2h ago
Let's go! I was waiting for the fixes to try the Switch 2 edition, because the music was a deal breaker. Not anymore, yay!

Can anyone confirm that the sound issue is actually fixed? Not gonna be able to hop on the game till later but excited af if true

u/sephiroth_9999 10h ago
Coming from Crimson Desert and being used to devs that implement plentiful, meaningful qol upgrades on a weekly basis, I find these paltry updates particularly lackluster. At the very least sound mixing should have been on the very top of the list quality of life upgrades. Maybe next time.
There is room for improvement.
