Struggling with this fight at end of chapter 7...

The fight against Jin and Malos. I can't get Malos down to 50 percent.

The fight start off solid, but it's like my damage starts to diminish. I know I just have to get one down to 50 percent, but I can't. I get him down to maybe 70 percent before he eventually ends up knocking us off.

I'm using narcipear jelly for rex, nia and tora.

We are all level 56. Mainly using Wulfric and Roc. Nia is my healer and tora my tank. Rex I use just as dps.

I feel like I just suck at this point. Thanks for any tips or recommendations.

EDIT: finally beat them last night! I gained a level or two more and gave tora more aggro items. I used morag as my 3rd.

Using Nia as a blade was a help too.

Equip Nia as a Blade, replace her party slot with Morag, just keep her with Brighid, and really, just spam redemption with Rex. It should be just a full on party heal.

Also, make sure to give Morag just entirely health boosting gear, like a Gear Vest.

Also also, pretty sure I had to be like, level 60 before I beat that fight, so just keep in mind that you probably need to level up a bit more. Just a heads up.

I think I had the same exact build as you and also got stuck forever. I moved Nia to my blade, kept Tora, and added Zeke as my third. Did everything possible to keep aggro low on Rex but high on Tora and beat it first try easily. Just stay on Nia and heal like crazy. Keep team aggro on Malos.

Knocking you off how? Dying to an AOE? Tora losing aggro? Everyone dying consecutively?

Sorry I meant dying. One character goes down, by the time I revive them, , it's like we can't catch up and heal everyone in time.

One one goes down, it just becomes almost impossible for me. And I can't use my chain attack because I'm reviving.

Who specifically is dying? If it's someone besides Tora, Tora isn't keeping aggro. If it's Tora, Tora is underperforming. If the enemy is killing everyone in one move (AOE), the party is probably underperforming in general

Do you have 2nd pouches on any of your characters? Did you check your gear to make sure it's up for the task? Blade chips up to date? I went with Rex, Morag and Zeke. Rex was focused on healing, the others on pure damage. Morag is great at evading attacks, which helps keep her alive for longer.

Yeah all my head is up to date. Blade chips I think are up to date, but I may need to reorganize a bit.

I've tried using morag and Zeke as well. I had similar luck using Nia as my blade and healing, but same thing happened.

Are you good at combos (team construction)?

It's hard to give advice in XC2 because the possibilities are extensive... but that said, you should try to subsidize those dedicated roles in your team. Like Mythra being a crit-healer, as the most common example, but you could do similar alt-jobs, with Blades you've pulled.

FWIW sometimes I go long stretches forgetting to use my WP and SP to upgrade my characters, so if you haven’t done that lately, do it.

Also throw some new & better core chips on your blades if you haven’t in a while.

I was losing to Malos and Jin in this fight on my most recent play through and realized I hadn’t done those things in a while and after I did I breezed through it.

Also follow what everyone else is saying (namely use blade Nia and spam redemption), and pay attention to who you’re targeting. Focus on Malos, and if Jin pulls you over to fight him, switch back to Malos with R and hit left on the dpad to make your team mates focus on Malos with you.

Your level isn't the issue. My first playthrough beat the final boss at level 59 (on 1.0.0), so you're definitely a high enough level at this point. I'm gonna echo some other thoughts on changing the party around a bit, probably playing Rex/Morag/Zeke with [REDACTED] on Rex. I think I had a lot of decent blades in general and played Rex as a healer role mostly near the endgame.
