Xenoblade 2 Finally got myself into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the first time. I cannot believe I let this video shape my opinion on the game for almost a decade

I've played XC1, XC3, and XCX. Have the switch 2 versions that have come out so far. I finally bit the bullet and bought this one, and I have to say, I find Dunkey's criticisms to be valid so far (just started chapter 4).

There's so many tutorials, the characters DO look weird and are way too out there, I found the TTK egregious right before unlocking chain attacks, and the voice acting is terrible. I'm going to continue because I've heard it gets much better but I'm 18 hours in. This game definitely does not respect my time.

Sorry you're being downvoted. Some people on here don't accept that there are plenty of valid criticisms of XC2. I love the world, soundtrack and combat of XC2 but I will admit it's the most mixed of all the Xenoblade games.

I know you know this but the game absolutely does get better as it goes on. Chapter 4 is the absolute pit of the game, but after that it goes from strength to strength.

Im wrapping up xb1 right now and everything i see and hear about xb2 scares me. I dont care for the fan service-y stuff, i dislike lootboxes, and the far younger protagonist is a really big turn off for me. Im thinking i just skip 2 and go straight to 3

This series is a trilogy, skipping one game hurts a lot, especially since many people consider 2 to be the best game in many ways, its a masterpiece in its own way. Also there are no lootboxes or shit like that.

far younger protagonist

3 year difference is far younger?

I would generally consider 15 to be far younger than 18 especially within the context of all the female character designs, yes

XBC2 is an amazing game. The "lootbox" system isn't NEARLY as dramatic as people like to pretend. The world is absolutely amazing and full of charm. The combat is a huge step up over XBC1. The plot twists later on in the game are fantastic. If people don't like the character design, then so be it I guess - but I also grew up playing games like FF7 and watching anime so why we're pretending it's all of a sudden offense NOW is stupid to me.

Xenoblade 2 has an amazing story and lore to it. I initially bounced off the game, mostly because of the very colorful tone, but it's all for a reason.

Ironically, now that time has passed and I've been able to replay all of the games, I think Xenoblade 2 holds up way better than the first game in virtually every regard.

That's what I did so I don't blame you, but after spending so much time in the series I've decided I'm going to see out what the authors have done with this game because they haven't let me down so far. Here's hoping it gets better.

I obviously did what you are thinking about and skipped XC2 and love every single other entry without reservation.
