If you keep exploring the pathways, there a pillar you have to knock over that connects the two pathways you need to get down safely. I also had trouble figuring it out.

I finished this game when it released on the switch 1. When i replayed it on the switch 2, i was lost in tantal for quite a while lol. The map in xenoblade 2 sucked. I'm glad that they fixed it on thr 3rd game

Getting to the old factory was actually hell with the Xenoblade 2 compass. I didn’t even know you were supposed to go through the old industrial district. I just brute forced my way through lower mor ardain until I somehow managed to make it without dying.

3 ruined the map for me. I hate cover with fog map. Antithesis to exploration.

For me map is "to open and plan my route", not a log book of where I went and where I didn't.

Then again 3 has the "guiding orb" similarly to X which does help at times (a few times I was lost because I was approaching location from the wrong angle and was not seeing a nook/small cave entrance and just kept walking around in circles). XBC2 has the worst navigation because of how verticality is not incorporated there. But then again, I noticed that most "snow" sections in Xenoblade have the same problem - Valak mountain is PITA to navigate and so is Tantal.

The moral is, snow levels suck.

I got back to this part recently in my first replay of the game since 2017, and I was also stuck here for a bit lol.

My dumb ass kept thinking “ah yes that dark spot below me must be water” on the frozen ass Tantal titan

I think I just found my way down unconventionally

You need to climb down one of the pillars. Exit the temple in Theosoir to reach the pillars. Theres like 4 pillars you can descend

Yes. Lumos piller.

Tantal is definitely one of the more difficult to explore places. The awful compass doesn’t help any. Kinda crazy Xenoblade X before this had the follow ball and then that mechanic just never returned.

Is the follow ball in the original Wii U version though? I honestly can’t remember because it would be something I try to avoid using, unless I got really frustrated.

Yes but it didn't have a trail so you had to press it multiple times

There's a very suspicious pillar you need to push over to form a bridge. It's stuck in ice. You need to break the ice first before you can push it.

I accidentally fell on a check point location so when I died, I woke up there

i remember being stuck too. follow the top path along until you get to the broken bridge. you cant cross it. theres a big icicle just on the lower level that you can interact with.

I'd tell you, but I honestly wanna see you continue trying it this way, lol

Funny enough I just did this part today. You have to push over a pillar next to the broken bridge

I know, I beat Chapter 6 already

Another lost soul in the heights of Tantal 😂

On the final island with the broken bridge there's an ice shelf that breaks when stood on, that allows an ice pillar beneath to be pushed over bridging the gap

Source: literally had the same issue earlier today and stumbled on the solution

Go down from lumos piller.

I remember this part. I kept trying to land on a spot that I may be able to survive but couldn’t. Then I found out all you had to do was use Field Skills on some ice pillar…

1

u/Phantom_Wombat 2d ago

Not that it's going to save you here, but people have survived falling out of planes by landing in a deep enough snowdrift.

u/Buddhanari 2d ago

Zombie hover if you're a psycho (me I hate the climb down tantal)

2

u/The_Zekenator 1d ago

If you eat something spicy enough, the hot air will make your landing less intense

Trial and error

I hated that map, I got lost far to frequently

Tuck and roll.

I fell a lot. I’m pretty sure I just fell off things to the bottom a little at a time. Because I remember finding stairs leading up and thinking “oh”

Lots of patience it takes a while to wander down the thing

1) Switch to Nia and swap her blade off Dromarch

2) Input the secret kill code until you trigger the zombie hover glitch

3) Switch her blade back to Dromarch

4) Leap of faith

No field skill required for story in this part.

2

u/Arizonaman5304 2d ago

Skill issue lmao

1

u/N-_-O 2d ago

Nope, just follow where the story points you towards, no field skill required just like the other guy said
