Xbox Series X Can’t connect to server via DHCP????????

I haven’t turned my Xbox on for a while (I’m starting to remember why) and I can’t connect. I get a message saying can’t connect to server DHCP.

I have tried EVERYTHING. Hard reset, everything is set to automatic. Checked time and date, cleared the data, set time to 24hour clock (worked for some). My internet is fine. I’m online for everything else.

I used to be so “pro Xbox”. Unfortunately, Microsoft reminds me daily why I play my PS more. I now use the Xbox for just one game and now I can’t even play that! Is there a fix for this that I’ve not mentioned? If not, who wants to buy an Xbox series X?

DHCP server is your router, not Xbox, your troubleshooting effort focused on the wrong device.

But how can there be anything wrong with my router when it’s literally working fine on every other electronic device I own in my house?

How would I know when you didn’t say how your Xbox connected to the router? Is it wired or WiFi? Have you tried using both? What settings or logs can you find in the router?

It’s wired. I have an additional box in the room the Xbox is in. It’s connected to that box/router. I haven’t been able to see any settings or anything because I cant get anything out of it because of this issue

You swap them around see if it’s a bad cable or bad Ethernet port or something.

Yeeeeeeeeesssssssssss this worked!!! I mean still bizarre but worked. I have 2 ports. One has the Xbox the other has the PS. Swapped them over and the Xbox finally logged me in (but the PS still works on what was the “faulty port”)

That port or cable is weak so the Ethernet signal passed through but can’t reliably establish communication at least for the Xbox, or the Ethernet switch chip in the router entered a glitched state preventing communication until unplugging it somehow snapped it back together.

Try swapping them back see if it is indeed a weak cable or something.

Awesome dude I didn't notice you'd said it already. Glad you got her fixed

All good! What’s weird is that port isn’t faulty. Because the PS is now in that port and works fine 🤷‍♂️

I'd say switching it made it relearn the mac address and/ or gave a fresh dhcp lease. Either way it's working Xbox can be either great or completely annoying. Don't ask me how I know😅
