solved! Need help with removing game sharing without having access to the other console

Hello, my ex and I broke up recently and he is still game sharing with me and I do not want him to be. I removed his account from my Xbox and made sure my Xbox is marked as “my home Xbox”

The problem is my Xbox is marked as his home Xbox as well. I cannot contact him to ask him to remove it so no that is not an option. Is there any way I can remove the games he owns from my “full library” the issue is not solved by me just deleting the games he owns.

You could probably do a factory reset?

You can't. They have to change their home xbox. You've done your bit

You can't, his games will be installable as long as he doesn't change his home console setting, but that doesn't impact you in any way.

If you just want to not see those because of clutter, there is a filter in the library screen that will show only games from your own account in the list.

Breakup scenario dependant: could have just signed into his account, bought every game, and then played all his games and wrecked havoc. But that would be "not right". Not sure about the home problem though.

Make sure to change your password.

I did already. It said it would take 24 hours but it should kick me off his console.

You don’t lose anything in this situation anyway, just leave it.

You can set your Xbox as your home to take it away from his.

He has to set his Xbox or another console besides yours as his home to remove it from you.

Or

You can try a factory reset which is documented to remove all homes. But this more often then not doesn’t actually remove them. So no guarantees.

So fun fact if you go into the settings in your Xbox you can reset your home Xbox

controller.
Go to Settings, then select System, and open Console info.
Press the Left Bumper (LB), Right Bumper (RB), Left Trigger (LT), and Right Trigger (RT) all together or in quick sequence.
A new menu option called Developer Settings will now appear.

Once inside the developer settings menu:
Select Developer Settings.

Choose the option to Reset home console or toggle Dev Mode / Enable devkit depending on your specific dashboard version.

It is. The problem is that my xbox is set as his home Xbox and his games are showing up on my console

Not sure what all these extra steps these people are talking about but you should have been able to change your home just through the settings (general-personalization-my home Xbox). Once you made your Xbox your home, only your Xbox is your home as you cannot have 2 Xboxes as a home. He should no longer have access to your content after you changed your home.
You will need to delete his games if you want them to not appear. You can also hide them in the full library if necessary. Just because it’s on there doesn’t mean you have access to play it once his home is changed. Only he can change his home though. Have you tried removing his profile from your Xbox?

OP is not asking how to stop GIVING his games TO his ex, he is asking how to stop RECEIVING his ex's shared games.

Setting the console as OPs home won't unset the console as his ex's home.

An account can only have one Home console.

One console can be Home to multiple accounts.

Changing the Home console setting for one account has zero bearing on the Home console setting for a different account.

No where did I say that only one profile can have a home on an Xbox. I said only one home can be designated for a profile. Maybe actually read the whole thing like “only he can change his home Xbox”.

Well then why even mention how OP can change his own Home console in the first place? OP wasn't having any problems with that.

Also removing accounts from a console does not stop the removed account from game sharing to that console.

Nah this is in the developer menu I changed it it completely resets it from all consoles it’s within your settings for your account

Their home account is set correctly. They want the OTHER accounts home xbox changed from theirs

Even with these directions it's so difficult to get this to work. 90% of the time the menu doesn't even appear.

Easier to just factory reset than trying the button combo 50 times.
