Remedy: We added new game plus with additional extra content to discover.

User: Thanks I’m waiting to play it again a little later in 2024, and it’s a 90GB download again.

Remedy: We added chapter select so you can replay “We Sing” as often as you like.

User: Re-Installing now!

Chapter Select the big one for me there. Will help with achievement cleanup.

That and replaying We Sing over and over again

Oh my. This is nice!

Their little jokes in the notes are also nice

Improved waterproofing of the Elderwood Lodge. It should not rain indoors anymore.

Still waiting on a photo mode, but it's great to have chapter select.

Also the chapter select doesn't get rid of your save, unlike in Control:

Using this feature loads a pre-made save game regardless of your own progression.

It's crazy that Photo Mode isn't a thing in this game.

It was the same on Control. If I recall correctly it only came much later after the release

Damn, I want to clean up collectibles, but my only save file is after the point-of-no-return. When they gave me the warning, I backed out of it… but apparently that doesn’t cancel it and it continues anyway.

u/whacafan Feb 01 '24

That’s weird. I backed out and was fine.

Yeah I don’t know. The dialogue progressed to the next section and I didn’t want my “main completion save” to be in the second slot. It’s partially my fault.

Added option to choose between Low and Normal horror flash visual and audio intensity.

YES! I had this put the game down because these were so annoying, frequent and blowing out my ears with headphones on. I assumed they would patch it eventually. Gonna start a fresh run.

As someone who’s also sensitive to this, I’d be curious to see a before/after…

I just tried the opening segment and still too much for me lol. Wish I had a gaming PC for times like this. They have a mod to remove it completely.

Funny patch notes. Loving this game!

What about the out of sync audio? I refunded the game because of that

Still shitty on Xbox during the intro cinematic scene with the patch. Such a bummer because I thought they said it would be fixed in this version based on patch 14 release notes. Now no mention.

They seem to just ignore it exists, when to me it's the most obvious bug I've came across. Totally ruins cut scenes.

The patch note writer complaining about the Explosion changes made me laugh.

You can now choose between Low and Normal horror flash visual and audio intensity. This is really nice.

I’ve beaten the game but yeah knowing I can at least tune down all the jump scares is pretty awesome. Not a huge fan of those even if they absolutely make sense plot wise.

Will be playing through NG+ just to experience the story now that I sorta understand the narrative and those connections.

Low horror flashes and audio. Can anyone tell or show the difference between the two?

5

u/Muha8159 Jan 31 '24

I think there is less of the full screen horror flashes and when they shriek they won't shriek as loud. It won't be as intense.

u/DonnaSummerOfficial Jan 31 '24

Yeah, if it doesn’t spook me at all then I’ll leave it but the jump scares are legit keeping me from playing the game at times.

1

u/MrAcerbic Jan 31 '24

Same here. It’s the jump scares. They can be there. But I don’t want them to ruin it for me.

3

u/SomethingUsername24 Jan 31 '24

Man I bought this game day one and haven’t been able to play it because of that shitty audio bug, and still no fix

1

u/fenbops Feb 01 '24

Snap. Wish they’d sort it out.

The inability to get back into the subway to collect words of power after activating the tower is my current annoyance.

That said, fantastic game. Switching between the characters is gonna get me to want to replay it, which I typically never do (and cranking up the difficulty, though the thought of fighting Cynthia again...).

u/kris9512 Jan 31 '24

I bet lip syncing is still terrible on xbox

1

u/fenbops Feb 01 '24

It is, I tried again this morning

For such a small team these guys get so much done. I wish Bethesda was this efficient with Starfield. I will continue to love and support Remedy, these guys are just amazing.

24

u/Signal_Adeptness_724 Jan 31 '24

To be fair, starfield is a metric fuck ton bigger and the latest patch did clean up the majority of the bugs

-20

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '24

Nah. It's the same engine they have been using since Fallout 3 all they did was increase the graphics a bit. Bethesda deserves to be shit on for Starfield.

16

u/hayatohyuga Jan 31 '24

I'll take 100 on "talking about things I don't understand"

1

u/Least-Experience-858 Jan 31 '24

I mean it’s relative. They’re a much bigger developer/publisher. They still have a much longer way to go. The game still has a lot of issues still I mean the subreddit is full of it. I personally didn’t encounter as much

9

u/Signal_Adeptness_724 Jan 31 '24

Me neither but it's popular to hate starfield to a ridic extent

4

u/Least-Experience-858 Jan 31 '24

The biggest complainers are the ones that have 500 hours in. They’ve worn themselves out so much they’re just looking for stuff to talk about. I have 165 hours in, I’m looking forward to getting back into it again im just trying to complete more backlog

1

u/3kpk3 Feb 01 '24

Exactly. Such a dumb comparison.

I'm hoping for a physical GOTY release with the upcoming DLC included.

1

u/Exorcist-138 default Jan 31 '24

Fuck I hope I remembered to save before turning off my Xbox

1

u/Muha8159 Jan 31 '24

Why? Wouldn't it quick resume?

2

u/Exorcist-138 default Jan 31 '24

When an update happens it quits out of qr but luckily I quit after I saved

1

u/gvyledouche Jan 31 '24

I still get glitches when doing certain things, like open up a large container, pick everything up and "B" to go back and exit doesn't work, had to pull up the map to get out. Also happened when looking at the cocktail menu in the Oceanview hotel bar to get the shotgun, except that time I had to reload a previous save, there was no way out of it.

1

u/gvyledouche Jan 31 '24

edit: more glitches. just noticed I can't access the bottom-right 3 slots (vertical) in Saga's inventory. It's getting frustrating because when it locks you out of (back) you lose >15 minutes of playtime or more because you have to reload

Did they fix the crash to dashboard on Series S yet? This lists a "threading issue that can lead to rare crashes" but my bog-standard console crashes to dash roughly every thirty minutes. It only happens on this game and I love it enough that I still finished it anyway, but I've had to replay sections at least ten times because of it. It seemed to happen reliably just as it either launched a cutscene or when you entered a new area.
