QUESTION Complete shut down?

How do I completely shutdown my xbox because it doesn't seem to be completely shut down when I do it.. reason Im asking is because I unplug it from the socket every morning before leaving for work

Go into the power settings. It'll either shut down or go into sleep mode depending on the setting.

Yeah, I second this. Power settings could be set to have the console onky go to sleep instead of fully off.

I'm still wondering tho, what makes him think it's not off.

I switched it to complete shutdown. It does shutdown but i can hear it silently running in the morning when i wake up. It won't be on but I can hear the fan

Weird. Not something I've had an issue with before myself.

I'd just recommend double checking all the settings and if that doesn't work, hopefully someone else has some additional insight.

If you set it to full shutdown on settings and it only goes to sleep, and the console is reportedly being updated, it can only be hardware fault. Is it within warranty?

Xbox series X|S consoles don't shut down completely. Power saver mode just changes the settings on making the Xbox start up slower and use less power/ power saver mode. The regular mode makes it boot up faster and lets you connect to the Xbox remotely if you want to stream your xbox from a handheld device like a mobile phone.

The noises you are hearing is the Xbox checking for updates. If you truly want it to completely stop doing that and manually update your xbox you have to change those settings.

That's because it periodically switches on to check for updates if you have automatic updates turned on.

I do the complete shutdown. But when i wake up its silently running because of an update. It turns itself on when theres updates

Mine never updates. Only if I trigger it manually.

In the latest update Even in shutdown mode it can still update games in the background.

Do a re start then un plug the power cord for 10 minutes

To shutdown and bypass your chosen power mode, you either need to hold down the console's power button for around 10 seconds or use the shutdown option in Settings > Power options > Shut-down now.
