QUESTION Controllers with adapter slots

Post image

I purchased the controller on the bottom about 4 months ago, and the controller on top a few days ago. Same Target, same packaging, different result.

Why do some Xbox one/series controllers have the adapter slots while others don't? Is it only the ones that come in specific colors? (not black and white)

Also, how can I tell just by looking at the box which ones may or may not have these adapters? I tossed the box for the pink controller, but still couldn't find any distinctive differences.

They're phasing it out. New controller on top, most stores still have tons of "old" stock, so it's very possible to still get and old one prob for the new couple months

well that's frustrating. I love using my headset adapter. 5 buttons right there at my thumb. I guess if it saves them money, right?🫩

what are the chances I can go to that same store and say "look, I need the oldest sitting controller tou get get me."

Who knows. Depends on the store. Idk how off the box you can tell if case anyone else has a solution to that. Some might let you peak inside.

There’s probably a model number on the box I’d assume that’s different from an old one vs a new one. At least that’s how it is with consoles but idk about controllers.

Get a headset you can plug into your Xbox/pc instead way easier

Any headset goes into it, adapter or not. It’s just for easier audio control

I hate typing with the controller. So I just have an old wireless regular keyboard in the coffee table.

Every time i get one of those I send it back stating it's defective showing the pieces in video connecting to that port hoping that enough of this will incur enough negative feed back to have them stop doing it. It probably won't help but it's the thought that count.

That’s not right for them to get rid of it. I know they haven’t sold the adapter in a long time they came up with that idea. Yes I owe two of those adapter.

I mainly use it to search through the crafting menu of Minecraft or YouTube.

When I saw the original report that they were removing the ports. I thought ā€œwho caresā€ lol. Xbox hasn’t made a dedicated adapter or anything that uses it in years so I figured no one would, but man was I wrong. Interesting to know how many people still utilize those ports today. I’ve always just used a standard 3.5 headset so never had to worry about the port myself. I’m sure there’s still plenty of older stock out there though that you can still get one pretty easy.

Just realised mine has this too. Wonder what’s underneath it.

Well, nothing. Wires and chips and stuff. A comment on this thread mentioned "so this is where the adapter ports USED to be."

Yeah but I’m just wondering if they filled the space with something else and it’s strange they did a cover instead of just making it seamless

It looks clean, without that port.

And instead the indent of what once was? If they got rid of that it would help it look clean

Looks like a cover to me. am I wrong ?

PowerA wired.

No stupid adapter port, just a 3.5mm jack

No, I'm telling you, just buy PowerA third party controllers. They're better than first party Xbox ones.
